German Chancellor Angela Merkel declared that multiculturalism has "utterly failed," adding that it was an illusion to think Germans and foreign workers could "live happily side by side." The failure of multiculturalism is also seen in Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Belgium and other European countries. Immigrants coming from Africa and the Middle East refuse to assimilate and instead seek to import the failed cultures they fled.
Leftist diversity advocates and multiculturalists are right to argue that people of all races, religions and cultures should be equal in the eyes of the law. But their argument borders on idiocy when they argue that one set of cultural values cannot be judged superior to another and that to do so is Eurocentrism.
That's unbridled nonsense. Ask a diversity/multiculturalism advocate: Is forcible female genital mutilation, as practiced in nearly 30 sub-Saharan African and Middle Eastern countries, a morally equivalent cultural value? Slavery is practiced in northern Sudan. In most of the Middle East, there are numerous limits placed on women, such as prohibitions on driving, employment and education. Under Islamic law, in some countries, female adulterers face death by stoning, and thieves are punished by having their hand severed. In some African and Middle Eastern countries, homosexuality is a crime, in some cases punishable by death. Are all these cultural values morally equivalent to those of the West?

Some people think multiculturalism is the attempt to raise up primitive nonwhite 3rd worlders by having them rub elbows with civilized Westerners, in a process akin to osmosis.
This is not true.
Mutliculturalism is an attempt by the elites to destroy the unity and cohesiveness of advanced white western societies so that they could better reduce them to serfdom and irrelevance while at the same time convincing the people in those societies to continue to work hard and turn over their money to them.
In fact, the opposite is true.

Modern day Multiculturalism is nothing more than “neo-colonialism” being used as revenge by the elites who either loathe their own cultures (Angela Merkel) or the people from formerly colonized countries who have gigantic chips on their shoulders (Barak Obama).
Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, and John Kasich were pushing for a pint of dog poop in our half gallon of ice cream. Speaker Ryan and Mitch McConnell are holding the line at only half a pint per half gallon. Is it any wonder that Donald Trump is more popular than even the republicans who hold the line and force liberals to compromise?
Forced bussing was never about equality of education. It was about breaking the backs of the white working class and destroying them as a political force.

I have begun to speculate lately, only partially tongue-in-cheek, that the entire EU plot is actually revenge by the Belgians against the rest of Europe for being relegated to the status of doormat to Western Europe during WWII.
Multiculturalism is a logical impossibility and as such pure idiocy.
The essence of a culture is its values.
It is thus impossible for two cultures to coexist peacefully if what they value is in direct opposition.
Such is the case between western values and islamic values, same with western values and marxism or naziism.
The essence of western value is the idea of freedom with responsibility. Islam, Communism, Naziism hate freedom, thus they can never peacefully coexist with the “West”.
Multi-culturalism started as anti-Christianity, by claiming that there was no way to say one religion was any more valid than any other. This was always pushed by “progressives” as self evident, and as a means to “prove” that any set of morals and ethics are completely man-made and malleable.
This is used by them to rationalized their “anything is allowed” life.
It morphed into “all cultures are equal”, except of course, Western Christian culture, which is evi.
If you look back at the “progressives” of the 20’s and 30’s you find this consistent thread.
I would agree with you there, but if you go to Brussels, and ask about the EU, you get the same dumb looks you get anywhere else. Nobody knows who these rulers are. It’s quite insane. Brexit - the Movie opened my eyes a lot. Well worth a watch.
