Just to illustrate how disconnected from the #TrumpTrain @marklevinshow is, he just predicted @realDonaldTrump will pick @ChrisChristie VP.
What Levin has done, that either he is fine with, or hasn't realized yet, is put "free trade" with communist regimes such as China on his highest pedestal above all else. He has clearly made it his bottom line issue, above concerns over what Supreme Court nominees Hillary Clinton might make, or what she and her Supreme Court nominees will do to the second amendment, which is the only thing that protects us from the outright tyranny that Levin claims to be concerned about. Even if according to some Trump has done nothing right, he has at least exposed Levin as someone who puts free trade with communists above all other principles, as he talks about how important it is every day, above all else, slandering his supposed hero Reagan in the process.
Trump already recently rubbed Levin's nose in it, pointing out in his trade speech that the U.S. Constitution utilized tariffs instead of income taxes to fund the federal government; to which Levin responded on his radio show that since we now have the income tax on American citizens we should no longer allow tariffs (seriously he did). Now Trump should roll out a long laundry list of all the tariffs that Levin's supposed mentor implemented, and rub Levin's nose in that as well. Would that change Levin's attacks on Trump? Clearly not, since Levin's "trump" issue (pardon the pun) is "free" trade with countries like China, but at least it would help others who are confused on Levin's position understand how hypocritical and dishonest he is being. And I say that as a (former) close to 20 year Levin fan, but facts are facts, and there is no middle ground at the moment.
Agreed 100%...Trump is more like Ronald Reagan than M. Levin is. I guess everyone forgets the 100% tariff on Japanese electronics under RR? Or his increase on tariffs for imported motorcycles (to protect HD).
Also a long time Levin fan losing some respect for him...I think he just dislikes Trump for other reasons and is using the “I am a Capitalist” phony argument.

As part of his lengthy daily attacks on Trump’s plans to selectively deploy tariffs against abusers of free trade such as China, today Levin also stated quote “Trump doesn’t want to mimmic Ronald Reagan on trade, he wants to mimmic Hillary Clinton” endnote.
“Free” Trade is just a convenient hammer Levin uses to bash Trump with. He’s real beef is that Trump cleaned Cruz’s clock in the primary. Levin just seethes at that loss and it’s clear he prefers Hillary Clinton wins so Cruz can run again in 2020. Given that Levin will mention SCOTUS as little as possible because horrific damage to it will already have been done by 2020 by a Hillary POTUS. And Levin cares not whit about it. How pathetic is that?
Levin is so arrogant he can’t see the damage he is doing to his other causes like his pet Article 5 convention project. I dismiss that idea out of hand now due to his now SIX MONTHS of unhinged anti-Trump ravings.
Thanks for your comments and great links too. I used to hang on Levin’s every word, but his behavior now only makes me sick, and I was not only a Levin fan, but also a Cruz fan, far before I ever supported Trump. Is Trump lying to us all? That remains to be seen, and hopefully not, but Levin is clearly lying to us every single broadcast.
Yep, same here...was a Cruz fan until he employed his “smarmy” fundraising & campaign techniques...still don’t trust Trump 100% in the area of taking a “left turn” when crunch time starts after the convention. Oh well, we’ll see I guess.
Levin just seethes at that loss and its clear he prefers Hillary Clinton wins so Cruz can run again in 2020.
Not only that, I believe that Levin and many of the other "NeverTrump" pundits also believe that they can make more $$$ being the "opposition" to Hitlery than having to defend Trump. They could care less the damage a Hitlery administration will do to the country and more with lining their pockets with $$$ from us rubes playing the "opposition".
I heard Rush a few years ago confess to his audience that it was much easier attacking and being the opposition to a Rat administration than having to be a defender and cheerleader of a GOP administration.
Thanks, and as I said that is one of two possibilities that explains his behavior, but by taking this position Levin does put forth the narrative that he puts free trade above all other issues. Which I can't help believe is actually his ultimate motive, because he mentions free trade vs. tariffs every single day as his excuse for bashing Trump, despite all the issues that he would otherwise find in common with Trump, and support him for.
Levin will mention SCOTUS as little as possible because horrific damage to it will already have been done by 2020 by a Hillary POTUS. And Levin cares not whit about it...Levin is so arrogant he cant see the damage he is doing to his other causes like his pet Article 5 convention project. I dismiss that idea out of hand now due to his now SIX MONTHS of unhinged anti-Trump ravings.
Roger that 100%. Levin's arrogance is appalling, starting with how he treats his own callers, but his supposed legitimate attacks on Trump have now been reduced to the free trade canard, even with regard to communist countries like China , since Levin historically agrees with Trump on every other single issue. Trump reduced Levin's wiggle room by stating the other day that the original U.S. Constitution utilized tariffs as the primary income source for the federal government, to which Levin responded that amendments to the constitution implemented the Income Tax which according to Levin made tariffs obsolete, a position that is clearly absurd. Now Trump, or others, should pin Levin down even further by pointing out all the various tariffs implemented by Ronald Reagan, since Levin claims Reagan to be his mentor, and mentions Reagan's name every ~3 minutes on his show claiming Reagan didn't believe in tariffs, which is clearly wrong, misleading, and dishonest, at best.
Do I enjoy pointing out Mark Levin's dishonesty, or hypocrisy of the highest order? As a previous long time fan of his, No, but if he continues to attempt to mislead his listeners as he is clearly attempting to do, I feel more betrayed than I ever did by admitted liberals, and see Levin's attempts to mislead voters as insidious, and even more despicable. Levin fans are welcome to reply as well, but we're not seeing many posts in his defense lately because most Freepers realize he is current behavior is simply indefensible.
It seems pretty obvious to me that Levin is getting in the weeds on tariffs to avoid talking about SCOTUS, Benghazi, terrorism or anything else of substance that would show the urgency of defeating Hillary. Levin wants Hillary to win. Plain and simple. Nothing else can explain his months long anti-Trump tantrum.
Unfortunately it looks that way. But since Levin has been consistently attempting to draw a specific parallel between Trump and Clinton on trade, especially today, it appears Levin will claim that American's desire for free trade (including trade with communist China) was the reason that Trump lost (should he lose),since free trade is apparently the only core issue they disagree on. Of course Levin will try to hide that, if and when the time comes, but posts like these will hopefully document where Levin stood during the election period.
Mark, I posted this to the Levin thread in March:
For me, it's not about aligning around my principles, it's about aligning around my goals. I can tolerate a less principled candidate as long as I think he's best positioned to achieve my goals. Of course, there is a minimum principles line I won't cross, but I don't think that Trump is anywhere near that line. But we have to win the election first for any of it to matter, and I don't think the "principled" Cruz has the general crossover appeal to win.So what are my goals? Right now, they are simple: first, build the wall; second, screw Mitch McConnell. We can go from there.
So who's in the best position to do that?
I know you want ideological principles, but you also have to figure out how you're willing to weigh and trade off adherence to principles with alignment of goals.
Today, listening to the condescension dripping from Levin's tone of voice when speaking about Gingrich now, I was reminded of my earlier posts.
Levin is losing sight of his goals. If I could ask which is his goal, electing Clinton or electing Trump, I expect Levin to deflect and say his goal is to elect a true conservative to protect liberty.
I would then reply that his choices, like it or not, are between Clinton and Trump, and if he thinks there is some other choice then he's advocating for a convention fight to steal away the nomination from Trump to Cruz. It's either that, or get behind Trump if he doesn't want Clinton.
Reading between Levin's words, he's been coy about revealing what he plans to do regarding candidate support. This leads me to currently think that Levin supports a convention fight to disenfranchise Republican primary voters, if not actively be working with Cruz agents in advance of the convention to lay the groundwork messaging.
We'll know soon enough if Levin will turn on his listeners and work to undermine the primary results.

It does seem rather hypocritical that the guy who is pushing the Article V because the government no longer adheres to the ‘rules’ of The Constitution is the same guy who is advocating the Republicans change the rules — after the fact [of the primaries] — to derail a presumptive nominee who won more than the 1237 delegates in favor of some establishment type.
[Surely, Levin realizes that even if Trump is dumped, the replacement will NOT be Cruz.]
How many times has Levin accused Democrats of following only the rules/laws they choose? Yet, he is doing similar by wanting to change the convention rules.
