EXMNA The request included a picture of the Ex-Muslims of North America (EXMNA) name and logo, with a caption of Congratulations on 3 years!, but was refused by an associate from the Fairfax branch of the popular chain, stating that the request was offensive.
EXMNA representatives called Wegmans bakery to clarify, and were refused again, with no explanation on why the logo, name, and caption was considered offensive. After conferring with management, the Wegmans employee stated that her boss(es) would not change their stance on the issue. The associate further added that the store had Muslim workers, my employees may not know what this stands for, Ex-Muslims of North America, and I dont have enough time and people to educate them on what it is, and although they were not sure if the employees would be offended, they cant put them in that situation.
EXMNA representatives reached out to the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF), a nationwide nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting the constitutional separation of state and church, who agreed that the actions of Wegmans employees were unlawful and discriminatory. Refusing to provide services to a group on the basis of their religion or lack of a religion is a clear violation of federal, state, and local civil rights lawsone we hope the company will move quickly to correct, said FFRF constitutional attorney Andrew L. Seidel. On behalf of EXMNA, FFRF is asking Wegmans to fulfill the original order without charge and educate its employees on their duty to serve patrons without discrimination.
After this story hit the internet, many outraged customers vented their dissatisfaction in the direction of Wegmans Twitter page which resulted in an apology.

Which Wegmans?
Mine will write literally anything you ask them to.

Career Tip #119: Enroll in Law School and specialize in Cake Law. It is the fertile, growing litigation field of the 21st. Century.
Another uber hypocritical, cognitive dissonance causing event.
Make the cake or get sued $150k.
Christians are offended almost constantly now, so just deal with it.
Sounds like the issue isn’t Wegmans per se, but their having to get along with Moose that work in their bakery department.
We don’t have a Cake Decision by the USSC yet, and it probably isn’t even going to try until it has an odd number of members again.
Not to mention what might be IN it.
It’s the “gays looking for trouble” who will drama-queen about it. Almost always, Christians won’t.
“”EXMNA representatives reached out to the Freedom From Religion Foundation (FFRF),””
People are reaching out to this idiot now? Good gosh! We sink lower every day!
Well if they are a secularist group, that kind of makes sense. I was wondering why they hadn’t been subsumed into some kind of Christian ministry — now I know. They just went atheist.
I guess that is less threatening than being a jihadist.
Ain’t that the truth. Bakeries will be a specialist field for lawyers soon.
Refusing the service should be their right.
Should a black baker be required to bake a cake for a KKK picnic?
Should a Jewish baker be required to bake a cake for a Nazi gathering?
Should a Christian baker be required to bake a cake for a pervert wedding?
The answer to all of these is “No”.
But do they worry about offending their Christian employees?
So sue the bakery back into the stone age. This is settled law.
I agree with you 100 percent. But only worrying about offending Muslims is sharia. If Christian bakers can be put out of business then turnaround is fair play.
Obviously they won’t be able to sue, and the “justice” department won’t make the baker pay a fine. In fact, the ex-jihadis will be harassed by muzzies over this.
Good point. I didn't mention the double-standard.
Can you imagine how different the country would be if everyone gave that much deference to Christians?
“”They just went atheist.””
Wasn’t the originator of this group atheist to begin with? I don’t have a clue but that’s what I thought when he came on the scene and started rattling rockets!
Islam trumps feminism, where forced marriages and veilings trump women’s equality. And it isn’t just their religious group. There were older EU feminists forced to wear headscarves to march with young Muslims in a liberal march some time ago. And that’s aside from covering up the actual wave of rapes around Europe, because the image of Muslims as peaceful is more important than women getting raped.
Islam trumps homosexuality, where the EU has seen a spike in crimes on homosexuals and the liberal government blames a general “atmosphere” instead of a specific ideology.
That would seem true, but the employee not being fired immediately made me think they could not decide if it was something way “out there”!
