When I see former FBI New York honcho Jim Kallstrom appear on Fox News, I see a tortured soul. As boldly honest as he has been on the subject of Islamic terrorism, this once honorable man has lived a lie for the last twenty years on the subject of TWA Flight 800. Others have lived the lie as well, but none so personally.
It was Kallstrom who spoke to the press, Kallstrom who testified at congressional hearings, Kallstrom who consoled the families of the 230 dead with the assurance he would leave “no stone unturned” in his pursuit of the truth.
When Kallstrom arrived on the scene in Long Island the day after the crash in July 1996, the truth was indeed what he was seeking. By July 30, 1996 -- less than two weeks after the 747 blew up -- FBI agents had interviewed 144 “excellent” witnesses to a missile strike. As revealed in a recently unearthed CIA memo, the evidence was “overwhelming” and the witness testimony “too consistent” for the cause of the plane’s destruction to be anything other than a missile.
1996 being an election year, however a missile strike on an American airliner involved far too much political risk for the Clinton White House. Working through the CIA, its operatives took effective control of the investigation. For reasons only he knows, Kallstrom knuckled under.

Once the TWA800 incident had died down in the news, Kallstrom retired after being with the FBI for 35 years.
His new job as a retiree with a full Federal pension?

It was a long time ago but it was either CNN or Fox. There is also another FReeper that saw it. We posted on a couple other flight 800 threads.
That SOB was on TV as a “former top FBI agent” during the DC Sniper episode. At that time he was excoriating the FBI for NOT investigating militias, patriot orgs. and white supremacist in its search for the shooters.
The video of his diatribe has gone down the same rabbit hole as the one mentioned in Post #96
It could have appeared there as well, I have no way of knowing. At the time I was living in NYC and did NOT have cable, so I could ONLY get OTA channels. The local FOX station was NOT a news station and was home to such shows as The Simpsons and Married With Children...hard news was not their agenda.
I do not know why TWA 800 went down. I know with absolute certainty that the CIA film showing it climb several thousand feet after it blew up was aerodynamic fantasy.
The front of the plane detached and that would cause an immediate pitch up and stall and with the front section gone it would in effect be a flat plate relative to aerodynamic drag. That aircraft pitched up violently , stalled and dropped like a rock. It did not climb, and the turbines would have went to idle and not continued to give thrust. What the CIA showed was a lie. I do not know why they lied.
The aircraft was probably doing about 250 knots when it exploded. If all the kinetic energy was transferred into a climb it could not have climbed a few thousand feet. That did not happen. This is just plain physics. It did not happen that way.

Radars reportedly showed a missile like strike before being scrubbed, deleted or lost.

Anything Gorelick touches is either dead or broke such as Fannie Mae. The US would have saved a lot of lives and money had this ignorant corrupt piece of trash never been born.
It happens. How many thousands knew what Snowden knew & more? Surely, many agreed with him. Yet none came forward.
Even little people like me. I have been in a group of Mom’s and we were all enjoying each other’s company and the conversations turns to politics and I decide to be truthful and BOOM. From then on I am excluded. Happens a lot. My extended family and even some medium rank friends DO think less of me for being a conservative. It is not easy to buck the trend. There is severe social pressure to remain within the ranks.
