Let's Reconsider Condoleezza Rice for Trump's VP
6/11/2016 | nikos1121

Posted on 06/11/2016 12:53:16 PM PDT by nikos1121

Today, Donald Trump floated Condi Rice's name as a potential VP running mate. He did it in a clever way. He asked the audience to shout out names.

From my TV I couldn't hear but he repeated the names Newt Guingrich, Jeff Sessions and Condi Rice. Only three.

I've always believed that if her entire story were made known, Condoleezza Rice would be a perfect role model for young Americans of all background and an inspiration to all adult Americans of color. I personally find her to be one of the most remarkable Americans to have served in high office.

Her story is uplifting and her achievements are far reaching. If Trump is looking for a world class success story, she has it in Condi Rice, and being VP would be just the ticket to remarkable biography thus far.

The press and her opponents have mislead us on her positions on several issues. For example, please do not make any commentary about her stance on abortion unless you fully read her statements on this issue below. They are not what you think.

Please take some time and read some of her biography by googling her. Here are some salient facts that I've put together.

-Born in Birmingham, AL and grew up in Tuscaloosa when the South was racially segregated.

-A trace of her ancestors go before the civil war found that they were sharecroppers

-Her DNA finds her to be 51% African, 40% European, and 9% Asian or Native American genetic descent, while her mtDNA is traced back to the Tikar people of Cameroon.

-She took music, French, ballet and figure skating lessons at the age of three.

-Her family moved to Colorado in 1967.

-She entered the University of Denver initially as a music major, then switched to political science after taking a course by Josef Korbeb, Madeleine Albright's father.

-She was a Phi Beta Kappa scholar and graduated cum laude with a BA in Political Science at the age of 19.

-She obtained her Master's Degree in Political Science in 1975 at Notre Dame.

-She obtained her Ph.D in Political Science at age 26 at the University of Denver, in Josef Korbel's College of International Studies.

-She worked briefly in the Carter administration.

-She attended Moscow State University where she took classes in Russian.

-Rice was a Democrat until 1982, when she changed her political affiliation to Republican, in part because she disagreed with the foreign policy of Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

-Her father was a life long republican.

-She served in Bush, Sr administration as an expert in Russian affairs.

-National Security Advisor and later Secretary State under George Bush.

-An accomplished pianist who has played with the Denver Symphony and YoYo Ma.

-She speaks French, Russian, German and Spanish.

-She has 11 Honorary Doctorate Degrees.

-One of the first two women who are members of Augusta National Golf Club

-Rice has appeared four times on the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people.

(From Wikipedia)

Rice was eight when her schoolmate Denise McNair, aged 11, was killed in the bombing of the primarily black Sixteenth Street Baptist Church by white supremacists on September 15, 1963. Rice has commented upon that moment in her life:

I remember the bombing of that Sunday School at 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1963. I did not see it happen, but I heard it happen, and I felt it happen, just a few blocks away at my father's church. It is a sound that I will never forget, that will forever reverberate in my ears. That bomb took the lives of four young girls, including my friend and playmate, Denise McNair. The crime was calculated to suck the hope out of young lives, bury their aspirations. But those fears were not propelled forward, those terrorists failed.

— Condoleezza Rice, Commencement 2004, Vanderbilt University, May 13, 2004

On The Second Amendment

Rice states that growing up during racial segregation taught her determination against adversity, and the need to be "twice as good" as non-minorities.

Segregation also hardened her stance on the right to bear arms; Rice has said in interviews that if gun registration had been mandatory, her father's weapons would have been confiscated by Birmingham's segregationist director of public safety, Bull Connor. leaving them defenseless against Ku Klux Klan nightriders.

On Abortion

Rice said If you go back to 2000 when I helped the president in the campaign. I said that I was, in effect, kind of libertarian on this issue. And meaning by that, that I have been concerned about a government role in this issue. I am a strong proponent of parental choice—of parental notification. I am a strong proponent of a ban on late-term abortion. These are all things that I think unite people and I think that that's where we should be. I've called myself at times mildly pro-choice. She would not want the federal government forcing its views on one side or the other.

Rice said she believes President Bush has been in exactly the right place on abortion, which is we have to respect the culture of life and we have to try and bring people to have respect for it and make this as rare a circumstance as possible. I am concerned about a government role and agree with those who do not favor federal funding for abortion, because I believe that those who hold a strong moral view on the other side should not be forced to fund the procedure.

Condoleezza Rice has indicated that she is not interested in serving as Trump's VP, but I can't help but think that he already knows that she is an example of a person who has succeeded against all odds.

She would be a welcome addition to the ticket. She speaks profoundly. She would shut up the Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney et al on Trump being racist.

She could bring more people than ever before of color to our party.

Here are some thoughts from others within the last two weeks:

-Giuliani: Says Kasich and Condi would make great VP picks for Trump

-Fox's Guilfoyle Floats Condi Rice As Potential Trump VP Pick

I think she would temper Trump's rhetoric and bring some instant sophistication to the campaign. I think she would probably do it under some agreement that he tone down his rhetoric or that she does not need to agree with him on all issues or with what he says.

Here is a woman who is obviously more qualified to be president than Hillary Clinton, and it will be obvious to everyone. Everyone.

Lastly, she has more Indian Blood in her than Goofy Elizabeth.

She’s expressed no interest and may have come out early on to say no way.

I think the only way it would work would be if the two met secretly. In fact, it was clear today, that Trump has made his choice. I don’t know how, because undoubtedly he would want to meet the person face to face.

He is so visible how do the make that happen?

Unless it’s through some closed circuit, but Trump is a guy who can pick talent, and the contrast of this loser Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren on the one hand, and this accomplish black intelligent doctor of letters on the other.

She knows other leaders.

I see many many strengths with her near Trump.

Condoleeza Rice would appear to be a politically correct choice, which might pose a problem for a candidate who has made a point of flouting political correctness.

I don’t want any of the stench from the Bush years.

Ditto that. Absolutely ditto that. A Bushie as a VP just might make me reconsider voting for Trump.

I think he’s already picked the person, and it’s one of the three he mentioned today.

No.

The single purpose of a VP candidate is to help get the presidential candidate elected.

Blacks will not vote for any R, even a Black one. Even JC Watts never got the Black vote.

He did ? He stood by and approved of our country being flooded by illegals, stood by and allowed the Democrats to reclaim Congress and passed off the country to Zero. That’s pretty damn lousy.

Rice, are you kidding?

I agree. She is as poor a conservative as Colin Powell.

Just not as malevolent.

I very much doubt if she’ll do it if asked. The GWB administration was treated horribly by the media and hired protesters years ago. I doubt if she wants back into that kind of face to face hatred. I could be wrong, but I think Condi is quite comfortable in the world of the academe.
Maybe ten years from now, she might feel differently, emotional wounds more fully healed. Notice you don’t hear JNap. or Janet Napolitano chomping at the political bit either. The world of higher education is it’s own society.

Condi Rice would be the livin’end!! She is such a class act in every way. The fact she worked for Bush means nothing about her except her conservative nature. Trump would be so lucky to have her, and he knows it. Those who think otherwise, come up with anyone, anywhere, better!!!!!

Consider her all you want but she has stated emphatically more than a few times that she is not interested in getting back into the political fray.

I don't blame her.

I respect her and have no hostility to her at all but she’s not at all conservative.

Newt would be a better choice.

why do people fondle all over her?

these are guilt-stricken honkies that fall head over heels in love with Condie simply cuz shes black.
