Let's Reconsider Condoleezza Rice for Trump's VP
6/11/2016 | nikos1121

Posted on 06/11/2016 12:53:16 PM PDT by nikos1121

Today, Donald Trump floated Condi Rice's name as a potential VP running mate. He did it in a clever way. He asked the audience to shout out names.

From my TV I couldn't hear but he repeated the names Newt Guingrich, Jeff Sessions and Condi Rice. Only three.

I've always believed that if her entire story were made known, Condoleezza Rice would be a perfect role model for young Americans of all background and an inspiration to all adult Americans of color. I personally find her to be one of the most remarkable Americans to have served in high office.

Her story is uplifting and her achievements are far reaching. If Trump is looking for a world class success story, she has it in Condi Rice, and being VP would be just the ticket to remarkable biography thus far.

The press and her opponents have mislead us on her positions on several issues. For example, please do not make any commentary about her stance on abortion unless you fully read her statements on this issue below. They are not what you think.

Please take some time and read some of her biography by googling her. Here are some salient facts that I've put together.

-Born in Birmingham, AL and grew up in Tuscaloosa when the South was racially segregated.

-A trace of her ancestors go before the civil war found that they were sharecroppers

-Her DNA finds her to be 51% African, 40% European, and 9% Asian or Native American genetic descent, while her mtDNA is traced back to the Tikar people of Cameroon.

-She took music, French, ballet and figure skating lessons at the age of three.

-Her family moved to Colorado in 1967.

-She entered the University of Denver initially as a music major, then switched to political science after taking a course by Josef Korbeb, Madeleine Albright's father.

-She was a Phi Beta Kappa scholar and graduated cum laude with a BA in Political Science at the age of 19.

-She obtained her Master's Degree in Political Science in 1975 at Notre Dame.

-She obtained her Ph.D in Political Science at age 26 at the University of Denver, in Josef Korbel's College of International Studies.

-She worked briefly in the Carter administration.

-She attended Moscow State University where she took classes in Russian.

-Rice was a Democrat until 1982, when she changed her political affiliation to Republican, in part because she disagreed with the foreign policy of Democratic President Jimmy Carter.

-Her father was a life long republican.

-She served in Bush, Sr administration as an expert in Russian affairs.

-National Security Advisor and later Secretary State under George Bush.

-An accomplished pianist who has played with the Denver Symphony and YoYo Ma.

-She speaks French, Russian, German and Spanish.

-She has 11 Honorary Doctorate Degrees.

-One of the first two women who are members of Augusta National Golf Club

-Rice has appeared four times on the Time 100, Time magazine's list of the world's 100 most influential people.

(From Wikipedia)

Rice was eight when her schoolmate Denise McNair, aged 11, was killed in the bombing of the primarily black Sixteenth Street Baptist Church by white supremacists on September 15, 1963. Rice has commented upon that moment in her life:

I remember the bombing of that Sunday School at 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham in 1963. I did not see it happen, but I heard it happen, and I felt it happen, just a few blocks away at my father's church. It is a sound that I will never forget, that will forever reverberate in my ears. That bomb took the lives of four young girls, including my friend and playmate, Denise McNair. The crime was calculated to suck the hope out of young lives, bury their aspirations. But those fears were not propelled forward, those terrorists failed.

— Condoleezza Rice, Commencement 2004, Vanderbilt University, May 13, 2004

On The Second Amendment

Rice states that growing up during racial segregation taught her determination against adversity, and the need to be "twice as good" as non-minorities.

Segregation also hardened her stance on the right to bear arms; Rice has said in interviews that if gun registration had been mandatory, her father's weapons would have been confiscated by Birmingham's segregationist director of public safety, Bull Connor. leaving them defenseless against Ku Klux Klan nightriders.

On Abortion

Rice said If you go back to 2000 when I helped the president in the campaign. I said that I was, in effect, kind of libertarian on this issue. And meaning by that, that I have been concerned about a government role in this issue. I am a strong proponent of parental choice—of parental notification. I am a strong proponent of a ban on late-term abortion. These are all things that I think unite people and I think that that's where we should be. I've called myself at times mildly pro-choice. She would not want the federal government forcing its views on one side or the other.

Rice said she believes President Bush has been in exactly the right place on abortion, which is we have to respect the culture of life and we have to try and bring people to have respect for it and make this as rare a circumstance as possible. I am concerned about a government role and agree with those who do not favor federal funding for abortion, because I believe that those who hold a strong moral view on the other side should not be forced to fund the procedure.

Condoleezza Rice has indicated that she is not interested in serving as Trump's VP, but I can't help but think that he already knows that she is an example of a person who has succeeded against all odds.

She would be a welcome addition to the ticket. She speaks profoundly. She would shut up the Hillary Clinton, Mitt Romney et al on Trump being racist.

She could bring more people than ever before of color to our party.

Here are some thoughts from others within the last two weeks:

-Giuliani: Says Kasich and Condi would make great VP picks for Trump

-Fox's Guilfoyle Floats Condi Rice As Potential Trump VP Pick

I think she would temper Trump's rhetoric and bring some instant sophistication to the campaign. I think she would probably do it under some agreement that he tone down his rhetoric or that she does not need to agree with him on all issues or with what he says.

Here is a woman who is obviously more qualified to be president than Hillary Clinton, and it will be obvious to everyone. Everyone.

Lastly, she has more Indian Blood in her than Goofy Elizabeth.

Yeah, I hear what you’re saying...winning this election is paramount, and Trump can pick whomever he wants for VP, but picking a person related to the Bush administration is a horrible idea!

Condi shouldn’t even be considered! We’re trying to get away from the NWO/RINO mindset...right?

“The Governor of Wisconsin would be a much better choice.”

Is this the same guy who called Trump a racist this week?

LOL... About a week ago he was pushing Rick Perry.

I think this is the second nikos induced headache I’ve had in less than a week. LOL

I think he means well, and I don’t think I have suddenly become allergic to cheese.

When it comes to experience in foreign affairs, Condi Rice has SO much more presence than Herself ever developed, there is no suitable comparison. Josef Korbel, a very knowledgeable expert on international politics, served as mentor for Dr. Rice, and sparked her interest in high diplomatic protocol. It is notable that Dr. Korbel was also Madeleine Albright’s father, which was one of the early recommendations for Mme. Albright’s appointment to her term as Secretary of State. But Condoleezza Rice was an even more apt student than Madeleine, and absorbed the lessons, taking them much more to the heart than even his daughter.

People talk about “most qualified”, but Dr. Rice has it pegged right up there at the top.

And she can probably also talk football game strategies right up there with the best.

Besides play the piano and speak fluent Russian and French.

“Aunt Jemima” indeed. There are some very ignorant name callers out there.

If that’s your idea, and a good one, then IMO that takes out people like Sessions, Newt, etc.

It gives you people like Christie, Perry, who are capable administrators now.

I like someone like Condi, because I think she gives him a persona of a picking someone who is not real popular with our side.

I don’t think she’d accept the job.

Of course, just about all of us here would want Palin, but he can’t. The press would kill her.

Condi, can stand up to the press. She’s a lion tamer.

I don’t know. It comes down to the chemistry.

Let’s see, Trump is a Gemini. Condi is a Scorpio. Hmmm. I don’t know. Fire on both ends. Control freaks.

“Let’s see I’ve posted serious thoughts on Newt, Rick Perry and Condi Rice? Why are these horrid pick?”

Quick answer, because some people just like to be critical of every opposing view and writhe in misery. They take great solace in questioning for the sake of questioning unless it is “their pick”

I took notice the ever expected response of list any and all accomplishments garbage made its way to this post. That one is to be expected. Forget the fact her accomplishments are significantly more than you, I or anyone else presently posting. I’m convinced misery breeds company

Sessions brings something very special, Conservatism. Remember what that is ?

Crispy Creme is a corpulent RINO phony and loudmouth who has done nothing as Governor. He's weak on guns, weaker on illegals (where he declared as U.S. Attorney that illegals weren't criminals -- WHUT !?).

Let us not forget his cuddle with Zero on the beach. Absolute phony.

I think this shows we have several people who would be great. I think anyone Donald chooses would be like his student and follow his directions on how to get things done. I don’t think their previous thoughts would get in the way even if they are moderate. They would be smart a honest loyal person as you have here.

She’s a Bush family loyalist all the way. He may as well nominate Jeb for how much he can count on them continuing his policies

Exactly. Can we please not have anyone connected to the Bushes, in any way whatsoever?
