Hugh Hewitt: GOP Should Change Convention Rules to Dump Trump
Breitbart.com ^ | Alex Swoyer

Posted on 06/08/2016 8:08:41 AM PDT by RoosterRedux

Conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt suggests the Republican Party should change the rules ahead of the GOP National Convention so presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump can be replaced.

“It’s like ignoring stage-four cancer. You can’t do it, you gotta go attack it,” Hewitt says. “And right now the Republican Party is facing — the plane is headed towards the mountain after the last 72 hours.”

“I wanna support the nominee of the party, but I think the party ought to change the nominee. Because we’re going to get killed with this nominee,” he added.

Hewitt went from the ivory tower of a university job to the bosom of the D.C. Beltway.

He IS out of touch with the vast majority of us.

In Texas and I’m sure in CA in the state legislatures for example there are dual citizen nationals as a result of anchor babies. Where do their loyalties lie? This is the way I wish Trump had pounded back

Seriously... Can you imagine if Trump had NOT entered the race?

It would be Little Yebbie (!) (who can fix it!) -vs- HilLIARy who would have had him peeing in the corner.

We would NOT be talking about illegal immigration or stopping muzzie terrorists infiltration, only how many we were going to admit (out of ‘love’)

This could have been an even worse nightmare disaster than the last two elections where the GOPelite gave us two morons so stupid they LOST TO BATHHOUSE BARRY!!!

A couple of nights ago, John Batchelor had on all the RINOs from NRO, WSJ, etc. They were covered in flop sweat from trying to figure out how to steal the nomination from that racist Trump. They even said that about a third of Trump’s delegates might vote against him.

They pulled that number out of the same place their heads are.

Hugh Hewitt and people like him, do not know what it’s like to win. They’ve never won. They have fear. They know nothihg of the Art of Deal.

Trump is already negotiating with China, Mexico, Japan etc. The rest of the world is on notice.

He is already negotiating with the GOPe, but they don’t realize it.

I remember when Mike Ditka came to coach the Bears. Green Bay would beat us every year. He came, and before the Green Bay game he said, “We’re going to beat Forrest Gregg and Green Bay.”

A reporter said, “Coach Ditka, don’t you think saying things like that will make them play harder against us?”

Ditka said, “We’re a better team than they are, and we’re going to beat them.”

And we did, and we kept beating them.

He believed in his team long before the fans did.

Trump believes in our military, our American spirit and work ethic. The people who doubt him are cowards.

I really don’t know what’s happened to him, he was one of the more intellectual guys on the radio, not just parroting talking points, but he’s gone just bat guano on this whole Trump thing.

Trump, like it or not, no only won the nomination, but did so with more votes than any Republican has EVER won it by.... so to keep trying to play games like this is silly.

The main objection most of these nevertrumps try to give is Trump isn’t a real conservative.... yet they are willing to support Hillary, which makes no sense at all... I get it, you wanted a more ideological conservative to win, sorry that didn’t happen. Voters wanted an outsider and they wanted someone they felt would put AMERICA FIRST... and that beat all your ideological purity to hell.

It makes no sense saying I want ideological purity, but if I don’t get it, I’ll vote for the person who is completely against all that ideological purity I demanded....

I was so glad to hear Trump finally say what he’s been saying all along, but not using the exact words... and that is “I will put America First”.. period... that’s been his campaign all along and his message, and it was nice to see him finally just flat out say it. The fact no other republican or democrat will remotely say those words tells you all you need to know about our political class. What should be the absolute minimal requirement to be a politician, putting your nation first, can’t and won’t even be spoken by the political class. What the hell does that tell you about the state of politics today?

This is exactly why Trump won, and its exactly why he’ll win big in November.... The reason we have a Trump candidacy is because of the abject sell out and failing of the political class, bot sides of the aisle, so instead of getting angry that the voters figured it out and said no more, you should be examining how your party got so far afield that Trump was able to win the way he was.. because for that to happen means you all have been far off base for along long time.

“Why the hell doesn’t Trump get off his butt, denounce Ryan and back Paul Nehlin?”

Because Nehlin doesn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of unseating Ryan, with or without Trumps support. Folks are grotesquely overplaying their hand if they thing Trump dominating the national race means he will be able to change local races to take out entrenched local politicians.

Ryan couldn’t be more safe. Folks are welcome to try to unseat him, but just don’t be surprised when he retains his seat comfortably.

Thank you for your thoughtful post (BTTT).

Hugh Hewitt is a good man -- he is just wrong on this and I am discouraged that such a thoughtful (former) conservative has abandoned the Constitution.

I think that Mittens would have had a better chance in that election had he responded to Crowley’s backing of 0bama with:

“I came here to debate the president, not you, and since you have just LIED to the American people, I will have no further part of this charade.” then walked off the stage.

Remember, Hewitt started his career in the Nixon Administration and is a Bushie, through and through.

He always puts up a YUUUUGE “Ohio Front” claiming he cheers on the local scummy pro teams, but he went to Hahvahd and U Michigan for his degrees!!!

Some “home-stater he is! Phony-baloney, small-time plastic banana Charlie is more like it.

Good luck with it.

Trump controls a majority so he gets to write the rules and the party platform.

His suggestion the party just ignore the expressed democratic will of 13 million voters is delusional.

It ain’t gonna happen. Hewitt is free not to support Trump.

I wish I had time to rate all the press people and how they treated Trump. And then have an automated program that everytime an article of theirs gets posted, post the rating and relevant quotes of theirs.

Some of these guys should lose all credibility, but I can’t keep them all straight. There are too many of them. And I never paid enough attention to know who they were in the first place.
