Cruz still 'assessing' whether to support Trump
The Hill ^ | June 7, 2016 | Rebecca Savransky

Posted on 06/07/2016 2:27:58 PM PDT by jazusamo

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said Tuesday he is still considering whether to support his former rival Donald Trump for president.

"Like many other voters, I'm watching and listening and assessing what he says and what he does and I think that's what millions of voters are doing and that's the way the Democratic process is meant to operate," Cruz said, according to MSNBC.

"I think voters are going to do that from now right until Election Day, and I'm giving it time and watching and assessing."

Cruz, who dropped his presidential bid last month, feuded with the presumptive GOP nominee several times during his campaign. Before dropping out of the race, Cruz called Trump an "utterly amoral" pathological liar, narcissist and bully.

Last month, the Texas senator told reporters he had plenty of time to make a decision on whether or not to back Trump.

Cruz told MSNBC that he is focused on "defending conservative principles," noting he thinks the party's platform should reflect those principles.

"I am fighting for those principles now in the United States Senate. I had hoped to fight for them and implement those principles from the White House," he said.

"It turned out that was not the way the election went and so I'm back here in the Senate working hard to fight for those very same principles."

He said the American people are looking for a leader who will "get Washington off of our backs, that will bring back jobs and economic growth, that will defend the Constitution and that will keep this country safe."

"And I hope that's what we end up with," Cruz said.

Trump has come under fire over comments he made questioning whether an Indiana-born federal judge might be biased against him because of his Mexican heritage. Republican leaders have condemned Trump's remarks.

You are in Texas, throw your hat in the primary ring against Cruz. I’ll support you.

In other words, his pledge as a candidate is an indicator highlighting his integrity - or lack thereof.

Whose in hot water ?

Your referring to another cooked up Clinton - Dem Uniparty media phony scandal over Trump telling the truth ?

The truth is rhetoric to you .?

Cruz siding with our enemies in the media and the uniparty isn't a issue for you ?

You’re so right. Hearing the words, ‘Lyin’ Ted,’ is enough to make a Hillary supporter out of even the most principled conservative.

It’s probably a tough call for [Ted] to make after hearing “Lyin Ted” every day for months.

All is fair in love and war.

Orly?

Just think of Hillary Clinton in the White House and appointing Supreme Court Justices.

That shouldn't be a "tough call" at all for any decent American who loves their country.

The only person who it could be a "tough call" for is an egomaniac who is so blindly selfish that they're willing to sacrifice the America's future on the altar of their petty bitterness and narcissism.

Yeah. Real "tough call" Ted Cruz has to make.

Oh, and, if I recall correctly, Ted Cruz also signed a pledge to endorse the party's nominee, no matter who it was.

Vote Trump!

I like him calling out any judge who makes rulings on any basis except Constitutional law. And I like his stand against political correctness. And I like that he’s willing to stand up for America against her enemies foreign and domestic.

I didn’t like it when he called Dr. Carson a pathological liar and I don’t see how calling other people names because they see his flaws as well as his strengths serves the Republic or this forum.

Cruz lost my vote when he attacked Trump instead of Bill Ayers, BLM, etc. Considering what a shallow jerk this guy is, it is not surprising that the doofus Cruz is acting this way.

So you excuse Ted reneging on his pledge to support the nominee? His word should not depend on anything other than integrity which he lacks. Hillary will love that. Seems LyinTed lied about that pledge.

????
Just reviewed my post to find where I said someone was in hot water. Couldn’t find a thing.

Cruz hasn’t sided with anyone at all. You are putting words in someone’s mouth?
Anyway, as I said from the beginning, when you make fun of someone non-stop for months, make fun of their family and their work history and you can’t quite grasp why they don’t drop everything immediately and jump on your bandwagon? There are people right here on this very website... Who would go to prison for beating someone who did less.

Cruz will in fact back trump. He isn’t going to make an immediate decision and look like the fool Christie and Carson made themselves out to be. And honestly, as a person, I get it. I’ll pull the lever that is right for the Republican Party. But the man must sleep in the bed he has made.

I read your comments .
You are peddling the Never Trump - Uniparty party spin of taking cheap shots at Trump .in a phony concerned manner.

If Cruz was a class act he would smile and walk away if asked about this phony Media spin but NO Cruz had to take a cheap shot because he is a classless Uniparty hack who thinks he can divide the party and get Hillary elected so he can against her in 2020.
He s also owned by Renaissance Hedge funds (Robert Mercer) which has spends 400 million on Him and Hillary to get themselves out of there 20 billion dollar Tax fraud case by buying the WH.
Cruz is a devious amoral power hungry lawyer who has lived off tax payers for too long . Cruz is the fraud and a sneaker Uniparty traitor and worthless DC lawyer.

It is Trump’s rhetoric that has won him the support that has him ready to be our next President. You may like the lies and PC crap others lay on us but apparently millions want the truth!

Wow... Peddling the NeverTrump spin.... You must be a psychic. You are certainly all knowing. You are completely off base. Nice try though. When someone has a differing opinion, you keep taking the high road by slamming the person you do not agree with. I laugh at the name calling.

BTW, not sure if you have read up about NeverTrump, but they are about an inch away from being terrorist. I’m certainly not that but again, nice try and all.

Quick question. If what he says is the truth, why does he back away from it?

http://www.npr.org/2016/06/07/481013560/ryan-trumps-criticism-of-judge-textbook-definition-of-a-racist-comment

http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/donald-trump-walks-back-judge-comments-amid-republican-uproar/

I could go on.
If millions want the truth, then where has the pressure come from that made Trump back off on his comments?

Oh, and I’m no fan of PC but there is a line in the sand. Otherwise we can start walking around calling people the N-Bomb and such. Roll the time back to 1957 when “the white race was the right race”.
I’m not basing the above on anything to do with Trump. It was aimed at the “PC” comment you made to me.

Yep. Marginalia at this point. At best.
