A decades-long battle between federal environmental officials and a small Colorado town is about to end in the governments favor, thanks to the agency-caused Gold King Mine spill disaster
...
Residents surrendered to federal demands only after an EPA work-crew turned the nearby Animas River bright yellow for nearly a week by releasing a three-million-gallon flood of acidic mine waste under extremely questionable circumstances in August 2015.
Suspended in the flood was 880,000 pounds of toxic metals, including lead and arsenic, that poured into the river that supplies drinking water for people living in three states and the Navajo Nation. The mine is just upstream from Silverton.
A host of highly questionable agency actions immediately before the spill and an apparent official coverup since the accident prompted outrage from the chairman of the House Committee on Natural Resources.
After more than two decades working in the region, they still couldnt get it right, said Rep. Rob Bishop .
...
Bishop, a Utah Republican, condemned EPA for being incompetent, evasive and deceitful, adding that if this wasnt criminal negligence, it should be.
The disaster was the last straw that convinced locals to reverse their decades-long opposition and allow the EPA to go forward in designating the region for Superfund listing
Once the designation becomes official, EPA will assume vast new powers throughout the region. But EPA has been encroaching on residents lives going back to at least 1994, with more than a few memorable episodes along the way.
...
How EPA has used Superfund authority against Silverton exemplifies the inability of local residents to resist the federal agency when it is determined to have its way.

America. You don’t have to take this BS from your public “servants”. You’re paying for them, control them.
Why hasn’t the coward sheriff not arrested the EPA for causing the pollution, violating civil rights, etc??
They way i see it is, I dont get too upset at all the catastrophic mandates by the king and his destruction of our country, because either it will all end in 5 months and if Trump doesn’t win, we all should seriously consider the options
Trump’s to do list just gets longer and longer.
When Mr. Trump becomes President Trump, top of the list should be getting all the Nazi’s and Communists out of every alphabet agency that exists.
I think I know of a Mamma Grizzly who wouldn’t mind doing the deed...
There is always a guy in charge of the spigot
“if Trump doesnt win, we all should seriously consider the options”
The assumption here is that Trump will put an end to this abuse. He may, in which case I will be pleasantly surprised. He may not, as he has always worked the crony system. You simply can’t be a businessman of his stature and not bow at least to some extent to the pay for play system.
But if he doesn’t win or he wins and does nothing what should we do? The thieving nature of government exists at all levels. The local small town I travel through daily moved a speed reduction sign that had been in the same place for a decade, expanding the slow zone. Then, a state highway patrol officer spent days writing tickets to locals who failed to slow down a few dozen yards earlier than they were used to. One couple I know got two tickets within an hour of each other for going the old, previously legal speed. I think it was pure theft on the part of the state.
The thieving is huge. Here is a video of government theft in Texas. If they can get away with this in Texas I don’t see anybody taking up the option of doing something about the government at the federal level. What, exactly, would we do?

It is heartening to see the Trump Train rambling along throughout our nation ... because those (we) are that brand of embed and we now have our own enabler to support us

Good question.
“When Mr. Trump becomes President Trump, top of the list should be getting all the Nazis and Communists out of every alphabet agency that exists.
I think I know of a Mamma Grizzly who wouldnt mind doing the deed...”
I know of an even better pick for that task, and he would take it on with enthusiastic pleasure: LtGen William Boykin.
Someone from the EPA belongs in jail.
.
Many “someones”.
1. Stop funding them
2. Instead of submitting to the corrupt system to address grievances, we stand and fight.
Thanks Richard Nixon. You sure dicked us
“Instead of submitting to the corrupt system to address grievances, we stand and fight. “
In the example I gave about the moved speed sign, a shopkeeper located there told me that the road crew moved the sign and a trooper took up residence near his lot at the same time. Obvious coordination. So, do you suggest that each speeder thus caught take out his gun and kill the trooper? I’m angry, but I don’t particularly want to kill somebody just because they have an odious tick-like job. Nor do I want to share a cell with somebody who thinks I look cute in jeans. I suppose I could fight the ticket in court. But, and here’s the kicker, it costs more to fight a ticket than to pay it and, most likely, you’ll end up paying the ticket and the lawyer. (I’d never go to court again without a lawyer.)
It’s the same with civil forfeiture. I’m on my way to buy a truck and have five thousand dollars cash. I get stopped and the officer seizes the cash. No charges, he just takes it. (Last year the police seized over $100 million from motorists.) It’s not a criminal case. To get the money back I have to sue in civil court. It costs $5,000 down and fire hundred dollars an hour so operate a licensed lawyer.
I think the answer is to elect officials who will change this. But between the election and arrival in office, they get replaced by pod people.
I don’t see me killing anybody. Nor will I pay six or ten thousand dollars to maybe recover five thousand. I don’t know what the answer is. Less government would be a great start. But how do you get rid of an immortal monster?
odious tick-like job... heh heh no bias there..
As I posted before, you either
1. Quit feeding it,
2. Kill it, or
3. Become its slave.
We've forgotten the legacy of our founders. Somehow, we believe we have more to lose than they did. We have accepted our chains. May posterity forget we called ourselves "patriots".
