Hillary Clinton is 0-for-2016, having failed to hold any full press conferences this year — fueling the perception that she is the most guarded major candidate in recent political history, in stark contrast with presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Mr. Trump has held at least four full, formal press conferences this year, including one Tuesday, and has fielded questions at length from the flock of reporters covering his campaign on numerous occasions.
Mrs. Clinton took questions from the press traveling with her campaign once, in Minnesota in March, but hasn’t held an organized press conference in six months.
“She tries to control media by rationing access. He tries to control media by setting its agenda with provocative posts and tweets that are then the focus of freely given interviews,” said Kathleen Hall Jamieson, director of the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania who specializes in political communication.
Mrs. Clinton on Tuesday acknowledged that she hasn’t held a press conference in nearly six months but promised that she would conduct one soon. She boasted that she has sat down for nearly 300 arranged interviews this year.
Mr. Trump, who has referred to the press as “scum” and “sleaze,” has shown a surprising willingness to answer questions in a press conference setting. He even holds press conferences almost solely to berate the reporters who cover him.

Oh yes, Rumsfeld was a classic with the press and Trump is much the same if not more outspoken.
And the press is whining that Trump is being mean to them, the sissies. They don’t mind that Hillary doesn’t even consider them worth her time. No wonder she has no respect for them and made them chase her bus in the early days of her primary.
Just a guess but she probably needs help getting aboard, of course the leftist media cover for her.
This is amazing. Trump, under relentless press attack, is happy to engage them head on. HRC, who is rarely if ever asked a tough question, is terrified of her ability to handle even softballs. She is the most phony, tightly wrapped piece of walking spam ever.

He had two in the last week. He had the national security one. He had one after Indiana. He had one after he swept NE and NY. These are some that I can think of off the top of my head.
She can’t give a press conference, she has nothing to stand on...Benghazi, what happened Hillary? No answer; Syria, what happened Hillary? No answer; Your Emailgate, what happened Hillary? No answer; Your ‘womans card’, what happened Hillary? No answer....
She has NOTHING but scandals and shambles everywhere she goes...she is worthless, slimy, traitor, and a spawn of satan!!!
She don’t need no stinkin bus. She’s got a broom.
They ask too many questions at those things!
Hillary she is not well. Her health is failing. She does not have the energy, neither physically nor mentally, for a press conference.
She doesn’t really have to talk to the press until after the convention (assuming she makes it that far) because there’s no real gain, having in her handlers estimation locked up the nomination. But this is eroding her popular support already and will be fatal beginning about 1 August. She won’t win and she won’t withdraw, and the Dems are stuck very nicely.
I agree and it’s a most pleasing thought, looking forward to her coming more and more unhinged.
Hillary is scared, and so she has not held a press conference in 6 months.
The Main Stream Media is scared, and so has not called the lack of Hillary press conferences to the attention of the public in 6 months.
The question to every journalist alive from every person alive should be, why have you not reported that Hillary has not held a press conference in 6 months?
Right on...Of course the lib media will never call her on this but Donald Trump is forcing it out in the open and we’ll see Hillary getting hit on it.
