As the Navy and Marine Corps enter the final stage of a review mandated by Navy Secretary Ray Mabus aimed at removing the word "man" from job titles in favor of gender-neutral alternatives, Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Thursday he has been thinking about ways to apply the practice to the entire Defense Department.
Navy and Marine Corps officials have said that all titles, including frequently used ones such as seaman and rifleman, are under a review that began in January at Mabus' request. The move comes as all previously closed job titles across the Defense Department opened to women.

seaperoffspring and rifleperoffspring would work
The terrorism of DACOWITS continues.
An “unwomaned” drone? The Three Horsepersons of the Apocalypse? Riflegirl?
Let’s see how fast these wackos can get Trump elected.

None of your alternatives are acceptable.
Unwomaned contains “man”
Horseperson contains “son”
Riflegirl is just as bad as “rifleman”
You have to learn to think gender neutral.
Seaman = swabbie
Rifleman/infantryman = grunt
[You have to learn to think gender neutral.]
being, individual, human, person
Just substitute Peep for Man or Woman - seapeep, riflepeep, unpeeped.

Double post? WHY????
Too bad all these people who went to the finest colleges never got an education. “Man” is the Old English word for “person”. It is neutral. (See “woman,” wife person.) It only picked up the secondary meaning of “a male person” because its proper word, “wer”, fell out of the English language.
The logical conclusion to all of this is to censor and dub over episodes of the original Star Trek series whenever Mr. Spock refers to “carbon-based life forms.” Can’t make a reference to carbon either, except for footprints.
>>all titles, including seaman and rifleman, are under review
Why stop at the gender end. Why do we need to label these people at all. Isn’t “Comrade” good enough?
Back to Chauserian times and use impersonal pronoun: Thee, Thou, Thine and the use of the letter f where the letter s now appears? /s
Is there anything in America that Obama and his fellow America hating, pussified, Nancy-Boy, sexual perverts aren't determined to destroy!
This has been the Marine Corps policy as long as I can remember:
Every Marine A Rifleman!
If they change it, itjust won't have the same ring:
Every Marine A Rifleperson!Every Marine A Carbon Based Biped!
Some Marines A Rifleman!
Some Marines A Rifle Female!
Some Marines A Rifle Homosexual!
Some Marines A Rifle Cross-Dresser!
Some Marines A Rifle Gender Fluid!
Much ado about nothing.
hu-man
wo-man
man
All man-kind...
So woman will be called wo and humans called hu, and every man or men will be eliminated? Is that agenda?
Thank you for the education, what your wrote makes sense, sensibly as well as historically.
I was in the Navy and there were Waves in the Navy at the same time. I assume they were called “seaman” etc.
I can see why the Navy would want to come up with something else to call their sailors and marines. Or, they could just call them sailor or marine. Which they already do. But, add their work description to it. Example: Electrician Sailor or Boatswain’s Mate Sailor. (Man this is stupid.)
Of course, many of the dike waves love to be called “men”. Just not “se” men.
