Requiring would-be voters to prove their citizenship when they try to register at motor vehicle bureaus is a burden on their right to vote, a federal judge ruled Tuesday, striking down Kansass law.
Judge Julie A. Robinson said only a few noncitizens have broken the rules to vote in Kansas in recent years, and that doesnt outweigh the hurdles placed in the way of thousands of legal voters who are struggling to prove their citizenship.
States instead should rely on would-be voters word that they are citizens, Judge Robinson said.
The record in this case suggests that there is a less burdensome way for the state to assess whether applicants meet the citizenship eligibility requirement; namely, by asking applicants to complete an attestation of citizenship under penalty of perjury, she wrote in a decision thats likely to reverberate across the country at a time when voting rights is a hot topic.

Insanity
G.W. Bush appointee.
One of Ws legacies. Thanks for nothing
In this day and age it is hardly a burden to prove citizenship. In fact it is not a burden at all.
Government demands id for far less important things.
Should be executed for treason.
Yes I checked, she’s an idiot and he’s an idiot for nominating her.
Maybe I could declare myself a judge.
Yes. As usual we agree. ;)
Amen, my FRiend. ;)
Legislatures need to boot these derelicts.
The judge is a democrat.
No. Judge Julie A. Robinson should be indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced to hang for giving aid and comfort to the enemy. Robinson is a traitor to the United States of America.
And the repubbies wonder why we despise them ...
The rule of law is shit anyway. (thanks obama)
Maybe we should just ignore this ruling. It works for sanctuary cities.
They don’t follow the law but we do. Makes us look like a bunch of fools when only one side is following the rules.

“Struggling”...........Really!? I open a file drawer and there the birth certificate is. That an individual cannot prove who he or she is IS NOT the problem of the over-burdened taxpayer! Taxpayers should remove this judge from the bench on grounds of room temperature IQ.
