I don’t understand all the vitriol for “ reaching out “ ? Trump reached out to Paul Ryan and he’s not even a conservative . Steve King is .

I would think as a candidate you would try to get every vote possible from every faction possible . That’s just common sense .

That’s kinda what I thought.

Anyone who was here on FR during the 40-day Florida recount in 2000 is well aware of the importance of every vote.

Trump got more evangelical and conservative votes across the country
than Cruz did.

Trump swept the south, home turf of Cruz.

Trump has done a great job uniting the party.

Trump will never win over the 15% dead Enders and snake handlers.

However, he will make up that deficient with increased black and Hispanic
voters. Add in blue collar and Reagan democrats and he will steamroll
into the Presidency.

The purist will end up getting what they always get. Nothing.

Well, we’ll see.

I rather doubt that he’s scaped out every potential vote in critical states that he can get.

We have already seen it.

Trump has already gotten more votes that any GOP candidates
in history.

The voter coalition that will unite behind Trump will unlike anything
this country has ever seen before.

The dead Enders can either join up or get steamrolled like Trump
steamrolled Cruz in the south.

The voting block is larger in general than any other election in history.

The rest is yet to be seen.

Let’s hope Trump isn’t as arrogant as some of his supporters here who think there is a huge chunk of voters he can throw away and still beat Hillary. I doubt he is. Remind me what the spread was in 2000?

Trump got more GOP votes WITHOUT 25-30%
of the evangelical conservative vote.

He got those votes from somewhere.

“There is not much of anything “conservative” about the GOPe.”

Anyone who says Steve King is GOPe is on crack. And likely heroin and pot.
Steve King is likely the most conservative; pro borders person in the House.
He is HATED by the left.
Steve King would personally tear down much of Washington DC with his bare hands and replace it with an outhouse if he could.

537 votes.

And to think, if Gore had gone about his recount the right way (challenging all counties instead of cherry picking them in contravention of the Florida election laws/Constitution), he might have prevailed.

But he got greedy, and the Florida Supreme Court (aptly named SCOFLA) overstepped several times, forcing SCOTUS to slap them down and tell them to cut it out.

I was on FR all day, every day during the recount. It was close. Can you imagine algore on 9/11?

Steve King is in much the same situation as Ted Cruz- he has to hang onto the single- social issue "evangelicals" to remain at viable, and he apparently feels that being intransigent vis-a-vis Donald Trump is a necessary component. Steve came out for Ted very early and very strongly, something which would have worked out to Steve's advantage if Trump had bombed or Jeb/Marco had done well, but that isn't what happened... and now he has to placate the implacable.

He's great on most things, but Steve isn't perfect. He does not have a lock on his next race, and after reading his remarks, he might - IMHO - want to lose a bit of attitude.

Thank you.

He’d probably bring Louie Gohmert along. There’s another real popular conservative with the GOPe.

Of course, no one’s perfect - especially in politics!

Attitude is in the eye of the beholder, I suppose.

True. He has captured the imagination of many, many voters.

He has also garnered a bunch of (D)s in the open primaries who are not solid Trump voters in the general.

As I said, we’ll see.

Be aware?

It’s easy to spot them after reading their posts.

Chip on their shoulder. Sore losers. Wanting Trump to bow down to them.
etc, etc.

Trump by passed these dead Enders in the primaries and won the largest
vote any GOP candidate has ever won.
