Despite the incredible damage that Skippy has done to every part of our governmental structure, separation of powers still exists. If the judiciary and the legislative branches had not been so cowed, we wouldn’t be in such dire straits.
That said, this doesn’t mean that chucking SoP out the window is a good idea in the effort to restore individual liberty.
Restoring Constitutional rule of law is not a nose job. Our deteriorating Constitution is a blood clot that’s waiting to kill us if we don’t fix it now. Or to change up the analogy, it’s using proper sterile surgical procedure while stopping the arterial bleeding.
That doesn’t mean those top-priority items don’t get done - they do. But to do it without the Constitution ... that will kill us too.
We are in a post Constitutional era.
Been going on since long before that. People still seem to think sophistry is clever and original.

So many unconstitutional things have been done in the last 50 that staying inside Constitutional limits will never reverse them. It is a catch 22. While I revere it but I acknowledged it is a failure.
Well, that’s sad to hear. Yes, the Constitution has been beaten and abused. But abandoning it is a recipe for chaos and disaster.
It hasn’t been a failure - we have. But I believe in redemption and adhering to doing the right thing. We can’t do that if we toss it aside. Plus, a non-Constitutional country will never be better. God forbid that happen.
Let’s hope Trump isn’t as arrogant as some of his supporters here who think there is a huge chunk of voters he can throw away and still beat Hillary. I doubt he is. Remind me what the spread was in 2000?

True. He has captured the imagination of many, many voters.
He has also garnered a bunch of (D)s in the open primaries who are not solid Trump voters in the general.

Trump “garnered” a higher percent of the vote in CLOSED primary FL than Cruz did in his HOME state. Your facts don’t match reality. Sorry.
Like it or not we now elect a dictator every 4 years. Hopefully they will continue to step down every 4 - 8 years. But who knows?

I thought much the same of Ted Cruz. Then he dishonestly campaigned with “outsider” Paul Ryan to enable the secret trade agenda of the most lawless POTUS in history.
You are mistaking careerism with conservativism. King plays a part in his beltway theater performances. His continued tantrum reveals that conservatism and beating Hillary are at the bottom of his list.

I’m struck by the total amnesia of sore Cruzers regarding the divisive role of Ted Cruz during the primary. It was a two way primary brawl yet apparently only Trump must make amends to “unify” the party. I’m not going to hold my breath waiting for Ted Cruz to apologize for calling me “low info”. Yet for some reason Trump must grovel to Loser Cruzers to gain their support. Makes no sense.
Each candidate had their own strengths in their home states.
Texas: March 1:
1. Cruz: 1,239,370 votes (43.8%) in field of 13 candidates (plus “Other”)
2. Trump: 757,618 (26.7%)
3. Rubio: 502,223 (17.7%)
Florida: March 15:
1. Trump: 1,077,221 (45.7%)
2. Rubio: 636,653 (27.0%)
3. Cruz: 403,640 (17.1%)
Take of those numbers what you will. It doesn’t address the open primaries, but that’s all part of the landscape.
Each candidate had their own strengths in their home states.
Since when is Florida Trump’s home state? LOL.
Texas; I don’t have a dog in that fight. Good luck finding and winning with someone that is more conservative than Cruz. That’s not a snark good luck, I really mean it.
