But Trump did get conservative and evangelical votes.
That is how he swept the south.
Trump got a greater % of conservative and evangelical votes
overall than Cruz did.
So Trump must be talking about the dead Ender conservatives.
in that statement.
There are more parts to the grassroots conservatives than that. Distilling them into such a stereotype does no one any favors.
With all respect, and not directed at you personally, demanding that people get in line is contrary to how grassroots conservatism is built.
Not trying to tear anyone down here, but there are realities that haven’t been addressed yet. Thanks.
He did, but when you add up the numbers and percentages of “Not Trump” votes, that indicates there is still work to be done.
His campaign can choose to rest on its core base and hope the crossovers don’t (a) stay home or (b) return to their Dem roots, or it can continue to think outside the box.
Well stated .
Thanks, Katy
There is work to be done.
And that is why he is putting together a coalition unlike any other
we have ever seen.
How is he doing that?
As we’ve both said, we’ll see.
No problem. It just seems divided along that line. I was pinged to the Lou Dobbs thread on this yesterday.
Either way, assuming the GOP Establishment doesn’t pull a dirty trick in July or whatever, it’s gonna be Trump or Hillary. Whether we like it or not.
McCain wasn’t my fav. But I did it. Romney wasn’t my favorite either. But I did it there too. Yeah, mainly because it would have gotten EH outta there and now there wouldn’t be LL stalling the Hillary investigation (which it would seem like).
And yes, I think this is the last chance we have at the country but honestly, I think we’re buried in debt. I don’t expect Trump to be able to fix that and I’m sure it’s really gonna rear its ugly head in the next administration, if not before.
Once again, we are witnessing it now.
Trump has gotten more GOP votes in history, without
25-30% of conservative and evangelical votes.
He put together a coalition that steamrolled 17 other canidates
and did it without 25% of conservative and evangelicals.
What part of that do you still not understand?
He'd do well to reconsider following Obama's lead in using executive orders to bypass Congress, and not returning control of any of the federal land to the states because they can't be trusted to take care of it.
No need to be snippy. I am interested in knowing what he has been doing since those primaries to build a coalition, and what he plans to do going forward to increase the coalition.
Thanks.
Conservative means open borders, free trading H-1B loving TPP globalist. Therefore I guess I am not a conservative.
Absolutely. The 10th Amendment is wheezing and bleeding out now.
No, it doesn’t. People who claim to be conservative and open borders can only pick one. Can’t be both.
Either you have a country or you don’t. Go Wall, go Trump!
The same thing he did to win the nomination.
Whatever he did worked quite well.
Won more votes than and GOP candidate has ever won.
And, if you answer bootless I would appreciate a ping because i am genuinely interested as well. Specifics please if you know.
All right, then. The landscape has changed since the primaries. We’ll see how he adapts to pick up the voters from the former voters. Thank for the converstion.
You must have Trump confused with the GOP controlled house and senate.
They are the ones who have been for all the things you mentioned.
That’s what he means. Certain folks, indeed most of them, have hijacked the term while they push that stuff.
May not be all, but certainly the overwhelming majority seem in on it.
