Sarah Palin On Trump VP Shortlist?

Ben Carson--who the Washington Post called the both best and worst campaign surrogate of all time--revealed that former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, among many others, is on Donald Trump's shortlist for potential running mates.

[...]He had just explained to the reporter riding along that he wanted no role in a Trump administration when news arrived of a new poll naming him as the best liked of a list of potential running mates. “Who else was on the list?” he asked quietly, maintaining his usual inscrutable calm. The most favorably regarded contenders after himself, he was told, were John Kasich, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Sarah Palin and Chris Christie. “Those are all people on our list,” he said. “Well, not you,” Candy reminded him sharply. That the Trump

That’s all he’s going here, Trump loves screwing with the media so he sends Dr. Carson out with this bogus list and gets a free news cycle at a time when nothing much else is going on!

Nope...The Ronald didn’t lose when running nationally. He had a totally different telegenic nature...brilliant speaker... Palin’s day has come and gone.

I don’t. The press and potential swing voters do though.

We’re talking about winning here...

No we weren't. You may have thought so though.

Palin’s day has come and gone.

And yet, here she is. Getting thanked publicly, prominently, and often by the presumptive nominee in whose head you do not reside.

Palin is like Trump, she’s a fighter and believes in herself. She’s not as good at is as Trump....of course his wealth and his accomplishments help.

Perhaps its a head fake by Trump but maybe not. Sarah is a very smart, solid and principled person. With Trump as Pres and her having the power that would go with being his VP...she could accomplish awesome things.

It would also be a wonderful scenario to have someone in the position, that you know has the country and peoples back.

Yep. I spoke casually in 2012 to lots of people who hate Obama but didn’t consider Palin a serious potential candidate. Trump needs to reassure people who don’t like Hillary but are worried about Trump’s qualifications. To use the catchphrase from 2000, someone with “gravitas”.

I want her in charge of sunsetting the interior or environment departments. Let her shut down BLM.

Ask yourself, how many voters would vote for Trump because of Palin as his running mate that wouldn’t otherwise? What states would he win because of her that he would not otherwise?

I think the answer is none.

“I hope not.”

As much as I like Sarah Palin, she has been so demonized by the press that I believe that her being Trump’s VP would cripple his campaign. Just my personal opinion.

I still love Palin and will incidentally drive right by her house in a few days headed north to Fairbanks on the Parks Hwy through Danali National Park.

That said, I think the chances of Trump picking her are slim and none.

Trump said that his VP needs political experience. She has no legislative, diplomatic, or significant business experience. She has been a school board member, mayor, and governor of a sparsely populated state. Her one “deal” was with the oil industry a decade ago. “Golly...gee wiz...” isn’t going to cut it this time.

Irrefutable reasoning. I defer to your political wisdom.

Sarah Palin as VP would bring in women independents and fence sitters that maybe wouldn't vote or would vote for Hillary. Also, some women who are lukewarm on Trump would vote for both because Sarah Palin is VP. It may make the difference in swing states.

Also, an unknown factor is how many Latino women would prefer Sarah Palin over Hillary Clinton? I suspect a lot. Most Latinos, especially the women, are family oriented and religious.

These women, and other women all over the nation, will work even harder for Trump if Sarah Palin is his VP pick:

I’ve loved Sarah ever since I voted for McCain because Sarah was on the ticket. She’s been through the media meat grinder ever since. There is room for her somewhere in Washington, but not as VP. She would not enhance Trump’s run.. too many believed the media and her delivery is (hate to say it but...) stale. The media took her style and poisoned it. I’d defend her any day, but she would not help
Trump win.

You know I'm biased, but am really trying to evaluate if she would be a net positive or negative. I can't think of another candidate that would be more of a net positive. First of all, she's a woman and counters Hillary's woman card not to mention she's a stark contrast to Hillary.

Who would help get more votes? That's the key question. I still think she would help with the woman and blue-collar vote - and across the aisle with women, union guys and millennial women fed up with Hillary or Bernie supporters who dislike Hillary. A number of them wouldn't vote for Trump and a guy VP - if on the fence, might hold their nose and vote for Hillary by default - But they might vote for Trump and Sarah Palin.

Just trying to do the math here and I think Sarah Palin would help the most out of the five Carson mentioned. Might make the difference in the swing states.
