Kartographer’s wife had a stroke a few months back and he is caring for her. Prayers up for both of them. I miss him too. Every now and then he posts. He is still here, but does not have the time to dedicate like he used to...

Allende killed himself on Sept. 11, 1973. Nixon was the president. No way any current US intel agency or asset moves against Maduro with Obummer sitting in the CINC chair. You’ve seen what’s happening with the CIA assets that participated in the rendition out of Italy of the Egyptian cleric. No air cover from their own. Despicable.

You may see private initiatives from companies whose property has been nationalized during the “Bolivarian Revolution”, but they will be limited to recovering or at least protecting their interests until things change.

Maduro will probably do a Tony Montana, complete with cocaine and hookers. Or he may do a reverse Tony Montana and head for Cuba, depending on how much cash he has stashed away and how much the Castor bros. will charge him to get in and what the annual “maintenance fee” will be to stay on the island.

I figured this would happen there, and it did.

I agree, unless we do a 180. We are being set up to collapse.

McConnell and Ryan have been paid to help bring it about.

:" Once the big supermarkets are looted, visibly on TV, it’ll get ugly everywhere fast.
Then, with an impossible security situation in the cities, the external food conveyors will all stop, from farm to factory to distributers etc.
Once the food conveyor stops for any reason, massive social ruptures will occur."

Many people are oblivious as to how dependent we are on the concept of a 'conveyor belt' that our technology has provided
to the continuation of civilization or our society, as we know it.
Imagine a shortage of potable water - ask Flint Mich. what that is like, and what the immediate response of the FED / State government has been .. crickets!

Imagine a failure of electricity - no communication, no refrigeration for foods, or medications, no functioning EBT electronic cards, no burglar alarms,
no operating computer controls of utilities, no water pumps or pumping of sewage to treatment plants even if operating.
Imagine a failure of gasoline/ diesel - no transportation of goods, services, personnel, employees, government employees,
or emergency services of fire protection, medical emergencies or even law enforcement.
Our society/civilization relies on this technological conveyor belt of goods and services ,
yet many of our neighbors, and even our own family members, fail to realize how dependent we are on its continuation.

Without this means of supply, and re-supply, the country will turn into less than a 'Bananna Republic' as is currently happening in Venezuela .

kearnyirish2 :" Americans should have known our own inflation was coming when gas stations changed their signs to digital; our currency has become very unstable."

Invest yourself in education of new skills and abilities, especially where it takes time, not money or indebtedness.
Study the old traditional ways and life-sustaining skills : (ie.: The Amish, early Americana immigrants, the way of the native Americans, etc)
Differentiate between wants and needs.
Realize that electronic and digital monies are only inconvenienced electrons which can be added or subtracted, based on whim, hacking, coercion, or even politics.

How do you see the next weeks and months playing out, both socially and politically/militarily?

In 20 words or less, LOL, que pregunta.

I just think of the San Andreas ripping open SoCal and breaking critical water mains and canals. SoCal has no capacity to provide itself water in that event. Forest and urban fires will burn out of control. There is no social cohesion, so it would get ugly fast. Katrina took a max effort but was possible. I don’t know what happens after a major SoCal or New Madrid quake. It could exceed our response capabilities and spill right into very dire straits.

Since Maduro declared that workers should only work 3 days out of the week, then shouldn’t they eat only 3 days out of the week?

<20 words?

In a land where people are hungry, whoever gives them food rules.

Brazil is out. Politically crippled, trying to host the Olympics. Disputed area in eastern Vz.

Cuba may act as a funnel for Russia. If Russia has any money left over from Syria and Ukraine. Doubtful.

Watch the farms in the west. Do the narcos move in from Colombia?

Watch the Iranians. They have a long history with Vz. But they prefer to operate via proxies, as the do in the Mideast.

The sickest thing to me is what could be accomplished if the US had a leader right now. Not only could you take back Vz, but you could at least damage Morales in Bolivia.

The US consistently underestimates the mineral and rare earth metals wealth of South America. South Americans consistently underestimate the ability of those exports to leverage them into the second tier of nations.

How do you see it?
