For years after WWII our government still had hundreds of thousands of hospital beds in storage. If it was necessary to invade Japan to end the war we would have had hundreds of thousands of our soldiers dead or wounded.
Obama's response was that they were getting an apology whether they wanted it or not, saying, "That’s what I do".
It was only 3 weeks ago that I found out that Japan had a nuke program during WW2 and actually tested their own device (about 1/5 the size of our 1st) in February 1945. I wasn’t actually surprised that they had a nuke program; I was surprised that they were 5 months ahead of us.
We were lucky that they used up all their materials in their test and couldn’t immediately make a second device to use against us.
They should want an apology for Obama visiting.
He should fly in on a restored B-29.
Does anyone doubt that Japan or Germany would not have used the a-bomb against us if they got it first?
