Measles Outbreak in Memphis Began at Mosque
Breibart ^ | May 10, 2016 | Michael Leahy

The first reported case of a person with measles in the recent Memphis outbreak, which now numbers seven confirmed cases, was at a local mosque on April 15, according to the Shelby County Health Department.

“The first public place where there was a public exposure potentially [to measles] was the Masjid Al-Noor Mosque on April 15,” Dr. Alisa Haushalter, Director of the Shelby County Health Department, tells Breitbart News.

“The mosque is one location we know that individuals who were infectious were during their infectious period, but that’s not necessarily where the first case occurred. I don’t want you to draw conclusions without sufficient information,” she added.

Haushalter acknowledged, however, that the measles outbreak could have originated with an unvaccinated for measles adult or child brought to Tennessee under the federal refugee resettlement program, something she called “a possibility amongst many.”

There had been no reported cases of measles in Shelby County for the previous 24 months, according to a spokesperson for the Tennessee Department of Health. “There have been nine previous cases of measles in the entire state of Tennessee in the past 12 years,” WREG reported.

The Shelby County Health Department first notified the public of a measles outbreak on Friday morning, April 22, reporting two confirmed cases, an adult and a child.

“We take the testing [of patients for measles] to the state lab then to CDC. We went public as soon as we received the confirmation,” spokesperson Elizabeth Hart tells Breitbart News.

As of May 10, the number of reported cases of measles in Memphis has increased to seven.

Times like this I wish I drank.

The whole point of Controlled immigration was to PREVENT crap, such as this, from entering your country.

We eliminated Measles and now the Prog's are bringing it back!!

Pisses me off so much.

Back when MY grandparents came into the US, they practically had to jump through their own rectums to become citizens... they weren't letting JUST ANYONE in at that time.

They were subjected to all sorts of tests (physical/mental/etc.)

NOW-in the great wisdom of the Liberal ‘I hate America’ crowd.... all the dregs of society are ‘welcome’

Bring in uncivilized people from infected dirt-bag countries without any real health screening. What could go wrong? Who knew???

We bring in people who refuse vaccinations for bogus religious reasons and wonder why we have outbreaks.

Like the caveat, “could have started” with a resettled refugee. Uh, given the absence of any reported cases of measles in the city for the year preceding the Memphis outbreak, I’d say the odds it began with a refugee from the Middle East are pretty close to 100%. But of course, they don’t want us to draw any conclusions “without sufficient information.”

It would be helpful (even amazing) if local Memphis media outlets like WREG would dig a little deeper. With a little work, they could find out who the other patients are, and see if there are any ties to the referenced mosque and the refugee resettlement program. Heck, I’ll bet they would even discover that local officials have no real idea as to the number of Syrian refugees who have been resettled in Memphis/Shelby County and the number who have “moved on” since arriving in the area.

I’ll defer to fellow FReepers who are physicians and experts in public health, but it’s never a good idea to admit large numbers of refugees from a country where (a) Immunization/vaccination programs were spotty to begin with; (b) the health system has largely collapsed, due to years of civil war, and (c) terrorist organizations are using the refugee influx to infiltrate this country and launch potential terrorist attacks.

It has been publicly reported that ISIS wants to weaponize plague and other biological agents they might be able to get their hands on. Both Libya and Syria had active chem/bio programs for years, and there’s no accurate information (in the unclassified realm) as to how much of those stockpiles fell into terrorist hands.

Once upon a time, the US had a stringent public health screening program for immigrants entering this country. There was a large hospital at Ellis Island and if doctors believed someone had an infectious disease or posed another health risk, they were placed in the hospital and hundreds died there. These days, a lawyer from the ACLU would probably sue and the media would raise a fuss about how sick refugees are being discriminated against.

The potential for terrorists to use refugees to spread disease is very real.

My sister rented a room to an INS employee (Houston) who did most of her work locally. Last October, the INS employee suddenly had to break her lease and forfeit her deposit because her employer reassigned her to the Middle East.

While I realize it is only one small part of the picture, the rather sudden timing of the posting is just one indication of how thorough this immigration screening really is.

We know the old Soviet Union had a huge biological weapons operation back in the day. When they broke up their scientists and their weaponized viruses scattered all over the place. Don’t think it’s a stretch to believe that some of this stuff fell into the hands of Middle Eastern countries and regimes not friendly to us. Some of the created viruses included Marburg virus, Bubonic plague and Ebola. Scary stuff and not out of the realm of possibility that some of our sleeper cell terrorists who are in our country now have it!

It’s never to late to start, I know.

Measles of all things, bad part is they can be deadly. The Masked Muzzie needs to be tossed the hell out of the White House and out of our country.

Yeah, just one possibility out of many that we are not currently giving a $hit about.
