Trump begins voter modeling project in key November states

Donald Trump's aides and the Republican National Committee are beginning to craft voter models in key general election states, signaling a new attention to campaign analytics from the presumptive GOP nominee.

The investment in voter modeling, described by a Trump source Tuesday, is a departure from his tactics during the primary campaign.

Trump's campaign has not used polling or modeling so far in the Republican race, though they are common in modern political campaigns.

Trump aides and the RNC are going into this assuming the Trump voter model looks a lot different than Republican candidates in recent history. Trump aides believe they can do well in Midwestern states like Minnesota and Wisconsin, but since they haven't done tests before, they don't know for sure.

The real estate mogul became the presumptive nominee following his win last week in the Indiana Republican primary, after which, Trump's two remaining challengers dropped out of the race. The Trump campaign is now looking more toward November with outreach to unify the party as well as finding a vice presidential candidate.

The investment in voter modeling

His wife used to model, so I don't know why they have to invest in other models.

I see several places where Trump strength and sphere of support expand out to surrounding states.

WV, Indiana, Ohio, PA, NY, NJ, NH, MA, DE.

If Trump competes well in those areas, than FLA becomes a low maintenance win for Trump.

Can’t wait until Trump kicks the campaign up into final gear and starts having 20k+ rallies 2 x a day throughout the Rust Belt.

Hillary will physically collapse from exhaustion if she tried to keep up. She’ll try and make the best use of Proxy speakers, but Trump will call her out on it, besides.

I’m also suspecting that eventually, Obama’s DOJ will find a way and a means to fire up a criminal investigation against him after the Republican Convention.

Here's the only models Trump should concern himself with: (1) APPEAL TO WHITE VOTERS
(2) GET THE WHITES OUT TO THE POLLS.

Trump's been doing what he does best, being able to shed the competition just by playing Candidate Apprentice, for the whole nation to enjoy. I say that as the highest complement. We've been informed and entertained; we're now passionate about trying to save the US.

While this has been going on Trump's been studying the process and the options going forward. Manafort is an example of how carefully Trump chooses when new options have to be added. I can't wait to see how impressive this next phase is going to be, learning from what worked and what didn't in other's campaigns.

FWIW, Trump just might make impressive gains in the black vote. Lots of folks like “attitude” and not being played.

And if a billion in payoffs enable Trump to ultimately save the country trillions in a turnaround?

Some mocked his “unpreparedness” as he rolled to Primary victory - he knows when it’s time to knuckle down and concentrate....

Sounds to me like he’s ready to expand his voter base beyond even the biggest primary vote in history.

And in come the leeches who will suck up nearly a billion dollars in funds..

Wrong. This is what won the election for Obama in 2012, and lost it for Romney. We just need to hope Trump gets it done right and doesn't produce another fiasco like ORCA.

Trump, unlike Romney, wants to win ..

I think that is utter fantasy. Romney was an awful candidate, that it was even slightly close in some states is a credit to a great many people who have high pain tolerance for holding their nose that hard while casting a vote for him.

Disagree - Obama improved on his black turnout numbers from 2008, and that won him swing states such as Ohio. Romney had a horrible ground game.

I think Trump will do much better than Romney with black voters but even if he does 80-20 it is best for him to minimize that vote. It’s just numbers.
