Donald Trump's aides and the Republican National Committee are beginning to craft voter models in key general election states, signaling a new attention to campaign analytics from the presumptive GOP nominee.
The investment in voter modeling, described by a Trump source Tuesday, is a departure from his tactics during the primary campaign.
Trump's campaign has not used polling or modeling so far in the Republican race, though they are common in modern political campaigns.
Trump aides and the RNC are going into this assuming the Trump voter model looks a lot different than Republican candidates in recent history. Trump aides believe they can do well in Midwestern states like Minnesota and Wisconsin, but since they haven't done tests before, they don't know for sure.
The real estate mogul became the presumptive nominee following his win last week in the Indiana Republican primary, after which, Trump's two remaining challengers dropped out of the race. The Trump campaign is now looking more toward November with outreach to unify the party as well as finding a vice presidential candidate.

After the blow-out tonight it would not hurt to look ahead some.
Yeah, is good. Sounds like he’ll be running a much smarter campaign than dullard Romney did.
I fully expect him to use all available tools that make sense, and then to what he wants LOL
Maybe he actually wants to win. Ya think?
What’s really neat is that we get to learn of what it is he’s doing during his campaign. At least I find it interesting.
If the information we get to hear about is reflective of how he governs, his will be one of the most open administrations we’ve seen in a while. I’m not talking about open in the sense of letting the enemy know in advance what the battle plans are, but open in the sense that Americans will be informed as they should be.
It has a feel of ...we’re included, as we should be.
Excellent. Also good news that the GOP finally accepted Trump and is helping him in the general election.
Soup from a Stone! Fancy that! Of course you could add some carrots and potatoes, but it is still soup from a stone! ;-)
Go Trump!
And in come the leeches who will suck up nearly a billion dollars in funds.. But hey, they got a good down payment from Yeb’s campaign, so maybe they’ll go easy and only swallow up half a billion dollars of campaign funds.
Trump won the primaries against 17 opponents with, what, 54 million dollars? Seems like there’s two models here, one proven to work, the other proven to swallow campaign funds like no one’s business.
Wise move.
From some things I’ve read, the RNC has made a major investment in technology since the embarrassment known as Mitt “The Choker” Romney, and believe they are not way ahead of the Dems and what Obama used. Trump or his guys even made reference to it once as a reason for working with the R party rather than going independent.
This is how Obama won.....simple demographics...get out the vote and cheating.
I hope he pursues a 50 state +DC strategy. No reason to leave even DC off the table with how crooked Clinton is. It would not surprise me if he can make serious hay out of her mishandling government documents scandal there.
I’ll do all I can in Minnesota to keep the Trump train rolling!
I’d be careful. I don’t trust the RNC.
During the primary, Team Trump never crossed out a state because they didn’t think they could win it. They attacked every state as if they WOULD win it. I think that’s what winners do and that’s why he will beat Hillary.

That’s my thought. I imagine the RNC polling will tell Trump not to attack Clinton, it polls poorly among women, don’t mention the wall, and of course, all polling indicates that if he were to go and kiss Paul Ryans ring, he would jump at least 15 points nationally.
RNC & GOP polling has got to be the worst polling in the world.
The best Trump can do, is get their poll results, and do the exact OPPOSITE of whatever it suggests that he do. On that basis, their polls might have some value to his campaign.
RNC GOP pollsters (Luntz Rasmussen, etc) are the usual suspects who end up on Fox and CNN spouting crap that never materializes, and is usually contrary to what the public at large thinks.
I remember the GOP had to drop the immigration issue because we were told over and over that it was a 3rd rail in the polls, and “American’s aren’t ready to have that discussion yet”
BS
There is no secret in the winning formula for Trump. High turnout for men, whites, baby boomers and suburbs. Low turnout for women, millenials, blacks, Hispanics and urban voters.
