First on CNN: Cheney says he will support Trump

Washington (CNN)Former Vice President Dick Cheney will support Donald Trump, he told CNN Friday, an important move as the presumptive Republican nominee is encountering intense resistance from senior members of his own party. Cheney told CNN Special Correspondent Jamie Gangel that he has always supported the GOP nominee and will do so this year as well.

The announcement makes Cheney one of the few Republican Party elders to announce their support of Trump and comes a day after House Speaker Paul Ryan told CNN he is "just not ready" to back Trump.

All hat no cattle. Had to finish daddy’s war in Iraq and ignore Bin Laden. Destabilized the area. Then zer0 funded Arab Spring and finished the job.

So, is Cheney “stuck on stupid,” or a pragmatist (your construction)? Pick one, but not both.

I see it your way. Cheney was ticked at Bush for not pardoning Scooter Libby. Also Cheney’s background was Defense during the Cold War. Was SecDef under Bush I during the Gulf War.

Trump’s strong defense and strong for the vets positions probably play well. As an aside, would not surprise me if there’s been some backdoor talking/advising between Trump and Cheney using Giuliani as the go-between.

I never thought Cheney was a diehard neocon. If you read up on Col. John Boyd, Cheney was one of the people that listened to his theories and in some ways was a Pentagon reformer. Cheney brought Boyd in during the planning of the Gulf War. It might be said that Boyd did more to plan that famous left hook than Schwarzkopf’s team.

There’s a resemblance between the defense mindset of 2016 and the defense mindset of 1976. Just like then, we’ve got to pivot from a counter-insurgency military to a military that can win a major conflict against a nation-state, imo.

CNN turned a new leaf. They haven’t seen the light just let but they certainly for at least a few hours a day play nice.

Maybe to reach the thousands of us who switched back to CNN

At least they don’t claim to be fair and balanced

And we won’t accidentally have to hear or see Megan Medusa Kelly Katie Pavitch Dana Perino or the other 15 women journalists in NY who hate Trump

First of all, does Ryan really believe he has the power to stop Trump?

And second, is he so dumb that he doesn’t see his non support for Trump will only hurt himself?

That means he’s too stupid to be in office.

Wyoming is number one state in coal production. Cheney may have watch what happened in west Virginia last night and decided in he BASF interest of his daughters campaign for congress he (they) had better get on board

Read the tab regarding coal on Liz’s. Campaign posted above.

I really don’t see how a Cheney or Bush endorsement would get Trump one more vote. But there are plenty of Bush and Cheney haters that would never vote for anyone who would vote for Trump. They simply hate Bush and Cheney too much.

I have yet to read one word from Cheney claiming his two term VEEP was a success. So I will go with YOUR demand of ONE, Cheney is a pragmatist. He at least respects the 'will of we the people'. And seemingly opposes the subversion of the original intent of our Constitution.

But still, it’s safer to go hunting with Cheney than driving with Kennedy.

Baloney! That idiot deserved getting shot. Clearly, it Wasn’t Cheney’s fault.

The thing is that right now, there’s a lot of bleeding in the GOP - especially the establishment. Unity will take some time, but I believe it can be done.

The ball is in Cruz’s and Ryan’s court. After Cruz’s ungracious “Trump is d-bag” mike drop press conference he has a lot of work to do unifying the party. Similarly, Ryan has greatly miscalculated here and needs to accept that Trump is the nom fair and square.

Schwarzkopf never impressed me with military intelligence. He called the end run around, a Hail Mary play. A Hail Mary is a desperation tactic. None of our attack movements in GW 1 was out of desperation.

Another good reason! What I’m looking for in Dem donor capitulation is when Warren Buffett softens his pro-Hillary stance.

Buffett owns lots of trains and that’s how you ship lots of coal.

This is a smoke signal to the neo-cons that it is ok to endorse Trump and a way to influence/infiltrate any future administration.

“The former vice president’s daughter, Liz Cheney, is a House GOP candidate in Wyoming.”

Could be a reason.
