Newt Gingrich Rips Paul Ryan for Trump Non-Endorsement
Breitbart ^ | 5/5/16 | Breitbart

Posted on 05/06/2016 6:30:54 AM PDT by Zenjitsuman

“[I]n the case of Paul Ryan he made a big mistake today and he needs to understand this,” Gingrich said. “He is the Speaker of the House. He has an obligation to unify the party. He has an obligation to reach out. Obviously he and Donald Trump are going to have disagreements. Some of them will work out and some of them they won’t. That’s fine. Our constitution provides that speakers and presidents can fight, but I think he sends the wrong signal and a signal which I think endangers the House Republicans and endangers the Senate Republicans.”

I think Newt might be the best alternative that Trump has for VP. Most other possibilities won’t do it. Rick Scott took himself out of the running. Newt would at least help Trump with conservatives. He won’t help him in Florida or Ohio or any other swing state. He might help him in Georgia but if Georgia is in play then Trump is doomed.

-- I agree with Newt, and I hope Ryan gets Cantorized. --

I agree with Newt that the speaker and the president may have slightly differing "red lines in the sand" and policy positions. Checks and balances, three nominally independent branches of government and all that.

But I also think that endangering certain House and Senate Republicans is a good thing, exemplified by your remark that Cantor needs to be swept out of office.

Mark Meadows R-11 North Carolina

He was the one who filed papers to remove Boehner

I know he was a Cruz supporter but he loves his country as shown by betting it all to remove Boehner.

I been a friend and in business with Mark sense the 1980's in Real Estate.

Though I admit we haven't seen each other much sense his election.

We go to the same Church, when he goes now. But I am going to bring this up to his freedom Caucus sense Trump won his District by over 70%.

-- Ryan missed a chance to be a leader. He could have reached out to be the unifier. --

There is no way to unify a globalist agenda with an America-first, nationalist one. The more that rift is in the open, then more the players openly identify with one side or the other, the better.

Now that the dust settles ...

Paul Ryan was preparing for contested convention [after all] ...

Trump should give Nehlen (Ryan’s primary opponent) a nice donation.

The journalism wing of the entertainment industry had this as their lead story last night. Ryan should have characterized his disagreements in some other way so as not to give them fodder.

Trump's "I'm not ready to support Ryan's agenda" was a classic.

Newt would be great in the White House, as an adviser, but he’s so darn quick and concise, he would also make a great Press Secretary, although it’s a waste of his talent. Perhaps he could do both!

Time to heal from what? You're the highest ranking elected official from your party, and you're waffling on whether to support the your party's nominee for president? What a POS.

I agree!!! Newt Gingrich would be an outstanding “Chief of Staff”!!! IMHO,....I like Rubio or any of the women, Martinez (New Mexico), the Governor of Oklahoma, etc.. I also believe that Christie should become AG, and Ben Carson should have a number one premier job at the right hand of Donald J. Trump!!! DJT has terrific team potential!!! I am not worried....Trump has the best organization slills & staff capabilities in the entire country...no Democrat comes close!!!

And...if African-Americans & Hispanics have any common sense and street smarts....they will ditch the entire Democrat Party and the CBC and, the NAACP....which has done zero for them...and join the Trump team for the real leap into equal American society....across the board!!! Poor folks cannot see the forest for the trees....SAD!!!

To bad he sat with Pelosi on the couch.

Of course Newt and Trump could compare mistresses.
I wish I had lived during a period when adultery was considered disqualifying for positions of authority.

For the record I will vote for Trump although his fifth grade level of reasoning and vocabulary is still going to be hard to listen too.

Hours after Ryan announced his exit from politics by pissing on the people's choice, Trump unequivocally declared: "I am not ready to support Speaker Ryan's agenda. Perhaps in the future we can come to an agreement about what is best for the American people. They have been treated so badly for so long that it is about time for politicians to put them first!" Trump continued to highlight Ryan's statements on Friday morning.

Are you listening, Wisconsin? Ryan was a shill for Obama, and his unabashed hyper-liberalism. Ryan and his ilk let Obama walk all over them.

Trump should go to Nehlen’s district and hold a rally for him, that would probably help more than a campaign donation.

“He said the people should be given a couple of weeks to recover from this.”

What people? It sure ain’t the folks who elected him. I can only assume he means the globalists.

“I think Newt might be the best alternative that Trump has for VP.”

I disagree. Simply and solely because of age. Chief of Staff, oh, yes! But I hope Trump picks a patriot just ahead of his or her prime years, and grooms that person as a successor.

I had hoped that GHW Bush was going to do that with Quayle back in the day, but Quayle was left to the hyenas with no support or apparent mentoring. It is my hope that Trump has an eye towards a successor. The last POTUS who thought that way was Reagan, who was tragically betrayed by his protege. The principle is still sound.
