Donald Trump wont self-fund his general-election campaign, and will instead create a world-class finance organization, the presumptive Republican nominee said in an interview on Wednesday.
For a campaign expected to cost more than $1 billion, Ill be putting up money, but wont be completely self-funding, as I did during the primaries, Mr. Trump said on Wednesday. The New York businessman, who did receive some mostly small unsolicited donations, lent his campaign $36 million of the $47 million he spent through March.
That plan represents a shift for Mr. Trump, who has for months portrayed his Republican opponents as puppets for relying on super PACs and taking contributions from wealthy donors that he said came with strings attached.
Mr. Trump is planning to use his expansive personal Rolodex to ensure his campaign has the resources to compete against likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton in November, while the campaign will tap into a new base of Trump supporters who arent on party rolls, two Trump advisers said.
The presumptive Republican nominee, known for operating on a tight budget in a primary where he enjoyed more than $2 billion in free media attention, is also likely to implement a business plan that may be less costly than traditional political campaigns, a senior aide said.

It would be tougher to pull off since the general election is every state on the same day, but I loved Trump’s “rally” format where he’d do two or three rallies a day. Seed the major population centers and let the word of mouth spread.
I was just thinking today, that now is the time for us to open our wallets for Trump. He’s carried most of the financial burden alone, up til now.
Now that he’s our standard bearer, it’s time for all of us to kick in with whatever we can. I certainly will.
Good. Trump should only fund his own campaign if hillary does, which even if she did, her money would have originated from foreign donors through her foundation. The woman should be in JAIL, not on the campaign trail.
Also, I will never send one dime to the GOP again. Any money coming from this house goes directly to the candidate. Trump may be able to talk his rich friends into handing over their hard-earned money to cut-throat, ignoramus bozos in the RNC, but not me. Never, ever again. It goes straight to a candidate.

At least half of which was anti-Trump
If they don’t, Trump will embarrass them publicly....
But, if he loses to Hillary he'll be glad he didn't self-fund the general.
His campaign website has always had a link for donations.
Maybe I will donate in the near future.
From what the article says, I do not think that Trump is going to sell out to special interests. It looks like he is going to solicit from people he already knows.
Yeah, he’s clever. :-)
Would still like to know about the Cruz/Carly $500,000.
Trump will also get a bundle from the RNC which every no knee is entitled to.
You have put a very sharp point on it.
She has compromised our nation by selling or promising favors to international interest groups, including foreign governments. She is likely prepared to spend a substantial portion of those monies, or at least an amount Trump will not be able to match, in order to gain the presidency.
The fact she is not yet indicted or in jail suggests that any illegal campaign financing will receive a blind eye.
Good news and proves Trump is not delusional! :)

You’re right, much of this supposedly “free coverage” was an all-out assault against him.
He’s already gone above and beyond the call of duty by self funding an entire primary campaign, which NO one else did. No one can self fund a national presidential campaign at this time, nor should anyone be expected to do so. Folks want a president to turn the country around? Donate. I swear, some folks must agree with the Bernie supporters who want their “free stuff”. I have donated and will continue to do so, as well as volunteer. Good for Trump for deciding to get some funding help. Truly, much of the sniping just sounds like sour grapes from guys who supported other candidates, or perhaps HIllarys multi-million dollar paid internet squad punched in today.
Wasn’t my favorite pony in the race but I will contribute to him. While I like what he says and hope he is a man of his word, I am driven to contribute by my dislike of Hillary Clinton. My fingers are crossed that he makes a good VP selection and would like to see him pick a non-establishment candidate.
I was afraid he might not spend enough.
Kill the Witch. Spend the money to git R done.
Me too, I just donated by buying some Trump stuff off his site. I'm handing them out to friends and family
Now that hes our standard bearer, its time for all of us to kick in with whatever we can. I certainly will.
Me too!
We will budget for sending him donations too. I am so pleased we are going to be able to help this guy into our White House.
