Three new cases of the Zika virus were confirmed in Florida today, bringing total there to 99, state health officials say.
The new cases were reported in Martin and Palm Beach counties, and there was also one case of a pregnant woman. The states health department does not stipulate the county in the case of pregnant women. State health officials also extended its Declaration of Public Health Emergency to include Martin County.
Of the cases reported in Florida, three people are still exhibiting symptoms. Symptoms include rash, fever and joint pain. Symptoms of the virus last between seven to 10 days. Latest News Update Get Newsmax TV At Home »

The first U.S. death caused by the virus has occurred in Puerto Rico, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The victim, who was in his 70s, died from internal bleeding, but the case was just attributed to a rare immune reaction to the infection, officials said. Puerto Rico now has 683 confirmed cases.
The total number of Zika cases within the continental United States remains at 426, the CDC said last week. All of the cases are travel related; none have been locally acquired, the agency said.

We used to spray neighborhoods. Guess that’s not EPA approved these days.
Kind of remarkable, in the news this has gone from 1 case, 2 cases...to 100 cases, kaboom.
Mosquitos are absolutely the most deadly animal on earth.
Maybe it's me, but it seems that the CDC and "Health Authorities" were far more concerned and took far more action when ebola was threatening a bunch of uncivilized third world hellholes in africa than they have now that zika is threatening us.
Hmmm. Maybe a little DDT wouldn’t have been a bad idea after all. Thanks billy rucklehaus or however you spell his name. Oh and let’s not forget rachel carson. More settled science I’m guessin’. Hell we used to ride our bikes behind the spray trucks in the 50’s. Maybe THAT would explain a few things. LOL!
Because ebola is very often deadly, and it could easily have turned into a worldwide pandemic. The mortality rate of Zika is extremely low. and unless you are pregnant, it’s not such a big deal.
That’s a fraction of Lyme cases which are actually diagnosed here every year and leads to slow, painful deaths. Where is the CDC on this epidemic? Crickets
If it saves only one life...
:/
The 0bama regime did their best to bring ebola over here to us. But don't forget, zika will create a whole new generation of democrats.
and all of those women were out of the country. which bring to mind, how many are anchor babies?

What does that spell?
“DDT!”
We still spray for mosquitoes in Florida at least. My county has a web site that gives a schedule of spraying areas. They use mosquito traps placed all over the county to determine when and where they need to spray. They drive down the street with a very loud machine in the back of a truck that disperses a fine spray of permethrin, or they use airplanes spraying naled and anvil. To kill larva, they use methoprene and spinosad.
Permethrin is great; I use it.
Supposedly it kills cats, though. I was warned to keep it far away from their food.
“Thats a fraction of Lyme cases which are actually diagnosed here every year and leads to slow, painful deaths.”
Lyme disease is indeed an epidemic, a hidden one. Many are infected and don’t know it. As a Lyme survivor and well educated on the subject, I can say that the disease is terrible to deal with but 100% curable, and rarely deadly.
big Green book of death killed damned near as many people as Mao's Little red book....
Begins to put one in mind of the hit shows “The Walking Dead” and “Fear the Walking Dead.”
The patience of Our Celestial Ruler probably isn’t infinite, even if He, himself, is so.
