This is just absurd. Even if there is enough time to start an independent run for President, there’s no chance that there would be sufficient support for it. Trump and Clinton wouldn’t even need to acknowledge it.

I remember it well. Didn’t exactly work out the way they planned, did it? Without John Anderson, Carter would probably have won 3-4 more New England states + New York, converting Reagan’s mere 44 state landslide into 39 states or so.

Great slogan.
In the highly unlikely event that Bill Kristol's wet dream ever comes to fruition, we could probably help him write at least 100 more on this forum.

Knock yourself out Billy.

A third party could help split the vote on the right and elect Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton president, which would allow Kristol to stave off the Trump threat and regain control of the party in 2020 without actually having to formally support Clinton. News Max on a death spiral.
Kristol deserves to go down the drain with it.

Bill Kristol has about as much influence as Anthony Wiener.

Bill Kristol needs to swallow his own tongue.

My question is the: If Mr. Kristol is really a “leading conservative” as posited, why doesn’t he place himself on a third party ticket? I’m sure he’d make a huge success of it, just like he has with “his” magazine. Well, maybe not.
From Wiki: “Since it was founded in 1995, The Weekly Standard has never been profitable, and has remained in business through subsidies from conservative benefactors such as former owner Rupert Murdoch.”

I expect cruz will go third party. If the big money keeps coming in.

Because he must have enjoyed the first two terms of Obama, and be looking forward to a third under Hillary Clinton.

How is this going to work any better than when they ran John Anderson as a 3rd party candidate against Reagan?

One of the nation's most influential conservatives and editor of The Weekly StandardGuess this makes Kristol one of the shiniest turds in the GOPe punch bowl.

Everything I ever wanted or needed to know about prominent conservative columnists, I found out on January 13, 2009...
President-elect Barack Obama spent Tuesday evening at a dinner party with several prominent conservative columnists, including William Kristol and David Brooks of The New York Times, according to an Obama transition pool report.
Mr. Obama, who has been staying at the Hay-Adams Hotel in advance of his inauguration next week, arrived at 9 Grafton Street, an upscale address in Chevy Chase, Md., at 6:34 p.m. The Montgomery County property tax records list this address as the home of the conservative Washington Post columnist George Will, the host of the dinner party. Also attending the party was Charles Krauthammer The Washington Post.

"One of the nation's most influential conservatives"
Hardly! This is a good example of a piece that internally refutes itself. Bill Kristol is a media caricature of a "Conservative." The outcome of the almost year long Republican Primary contest demonstrates how "influential" the son of the Neocon Godfather actually is.
