Cruz signs copy of Communist Manifesto for Young Man but adds a blunt message

Someone showed up at a Ted Cruz event in Elkhart, Indiana today with a copy of the Communist Manifesto. According to a reporter for the Texas Tribune, the kid, who looked like he could be a college student, asked Cruz to sign his “economic textbook.”

A young man asks Ted Cruz to sign his "economic textbook."

"That… would be the Communist Manifesto," Cruz says, realizing the prank.

— Patrick Svitek (@PatrickSvitek) April 28, 2016

Video of the encounter published by WSBT22 shows Cruz paused and said, “You know what, I’ll sign it as well.” The college kid replied, “Ah, you have a good sense of humor.” Here is the note Cruz added to the book:

A young man asked @SenTedCruz to sign a copy of the Communist Manifesto as a joke. Here's what Cruz wrote. pic.twitter.com/8VW5H2XHOb

— Ben Gittleson (@bgittleson) April 28, 2016

After handing the book back, Cruz turned to the press, “There you go and for the record the note I wrote on the Communist Manifesto is ‘Millions have suffered because of this.’ Turning back to the student he added, “And I note this as the son of a Cuban immigrant whose family has seen first hand just exactly what Communism has rendered. Cruz then shook the young man’s hand and thanked him for coming out to the rally.

Kudos to Cruz for not falling for the prank and handling it well. You can be sure that if he hadn’t noticed what this was and signed it with something anodyne like ‘Thanks for your support!’ the left would have been giddy over it.

” Cruz is nearly guaranteed the nomination if Trump fails to win on the first ballot”

2 points;
I don’t think this can be called factual. The gope and the angry trumpers will have something to say about that.

Point 2; Winning the nomination is not the goal. Winning the presidency is. I can’t see how Cruz does this.

You wish. So Trump can’t count on your vote in June then?

RE: CO wasn’t cheating? A state where Trump is polling at 44% and Cruz got all the delegates?

No, CO was NOT cheating.

The primary rules by which Colorado selects their delegates were main known over a year ago. It was not hidden or a secret.

If you do not familiarize yourself with the Colorado rules, you can’t blame your opponent for taking advantage of this.

Trump has wrongly charged that Cruz colluded with the establishment to “steal” Colorado. In this way, Trump hopes to seal his claim to be the sole aggrieved outsider. He says that working together, they cheated and disenfranchised millions of voters.

Trump knows full well that Colorado wasn’t stolen and that he began there on a level playing field with Cruz, but he didn’t do the necessary groundwork to compete. He never had a presence in Colorado.

But he also knows that his supporters will believe otherwise and become more entrenched if he cries foul loudly enough. He hopes to draw supporters away from Cruz and woo the undecided in upcoming states by leveraging these allegations in service to establishment/Cruz conspiracy theories.

If there were actual cheating going on, I would decry it from the highest mountain, but it is just as wrong to allege cheating when it isn’t occurring for your own political benefit. Could we please dispense with these ridiculous allegations and get on with this process without further enraging the voters?

If you prefer Trump, that’s your prerogative. But I cannot let this go un-answered.

The state of Colorado has admitted their process was flawed and disenfranchised Trump supporters. Why are you continued to peddle that Cruzian lie in the light of these facts?

RE: The state of Colorado has admitted their process was flawed and disenfranchised Trump supporters.

Then blame the process, not the person who knows the rules and the process and took advantage of it to win. If the rules were made known in advance, and Cruz learned of the rules and took advantage of it, that’s NOT CHEATING. That’s following the rules of the game and winning.

Cruz did not make the rules. He followed the rules to its logical conclusion.

Want to change the process? Sure. But not when the process is being played out already. The time to complain about it was before the primaries started, not after it already began.

But it is NOT CHEATING.

Trump has wrongly charged that Cruz colluded with the establishment to “steal” Colorado.

Bullshit.

Rush Limbaugh himself admitted that the CO rules finalized last August were put in place specifically to thwart "outsiders", such as Trump, Paul, and, at that time, Ted Cruz.

He further admitted that, since Ted Cruz became the default GOPe darling, that Cruz was the one who benefited from the "greased skids" system that was put in place so that all the delegates could be awarded to the GOPe's designated "insider".

Since Jeb Bush had been squashed like an insect by Trump, the GOPe had to reluctantly back Ted Cruz, a step which Cruz has obviously embraced.

Ted Cruz is now the GOPe's last hope, and that's why he got all of the Colorado delegates. It had nothing whatsoever to do with a good "ground game".

Like I said, even Rush Limbaugh admitted the GOPe "greased skids" setup for the CO delegates.

Ted Cruz is GOPe.

>But it is NOT CHEATING.

It is cheating. The right of the people to vote for their candidates is at the core of our system. Buying delegates like Cruz does isn’t.

RE: Rush Limbaugh himself admitted that the CO rules finalized last August were put in place specifically to thwart “outsiders”, such as Trump, Paul, and, at that time, Ted Cruz.

If that were the case, why the complaint only NOW?

If it was also designed to thwart Cruz and Cruz took advantage of the so called flawed rules to win, then why blame him?

Blame the Colorado GOP.

The time to complain about the Colorado delegate selection process was BEFORE the primaries, not after it was already put in place.

The point I am trying to drive at is this — CRUZ DID NOT CHEAT.

Cruz LEARNED how the delegate selection process worked and took advantage of it.

If you don’t like it, Blame the Colorado GOP, not Cruz. He simply played by the rules. There was NO CHEATING BY HIM.

RE: It is cheating. The right of the people to vote for their candidates is at the core of our system. Buying delegates like Cruz does isn’t.

Really? Let’s talk about the other states that Trump won.

Is it “fair” that Trump should receive all fifty delegates in South Carolina with only 32.5% of the vote, while Marco Rubio receives less than half of Minnesota’s delegates though winning with 36.5% of the vote, and while Ted Cruz receives only 60% of the delegates in Kansas despite earning 48.2% of the vote?

Is it “fair” that Trump gets 100% of the delegates for 45.7% of the vote (1,077,221 votes) in Florida, while Cruz gets only 67% of the delegates for 43.8% of the vote (1,239,370 votes) in Texas, or 52% of the delegates for 45.9% of the vote in Maine?

Shouldn’t other candidates be whining about the unfairness of these Trump-friendly results? No — because they knew the rules, just as Trump knew the rules in Colorado.

Cruz did not “BUY” the delegates ( as in BRIBE ). He took the time to go there, woe them, convinced them the he was the candidate for the GP. Trump did not bother to go there. And it is Cruz’s fault? No it was not.

And no it was NOT CHEATING. He played by the rules. The rules that were known by all and hidden to none.

No. He stole.

The train has already left the station on this debate. Trump won it. He turned GOPe lemons into lemonade.

Ted Cruz's campaign is over.

You will finally accept that on Tuesday night when Donald Trump wins Indiana.

I will finally accept WHOEVER the GOP nominee will be provided they play by the rules and win. If Trump wins 1,237, I will support him.

But my point in debating with you is not WHO WILL WIN but DID CRUZ CHEAT?

No he did not. It may well be that Trump will be the nominee and between him and Hillary, I’ll support Trump.

But I will defend Cruz were he to win or lose the nomination from charges of cheating in Colorado.

Trump supporters will fall into line after Cruz wins the nomination, just like everyone fell into line when Romney won the nomination.

The rules written by the “#NeverTrump people? We haven't forgotten that tweet. And the damn rules weren't even enforced. In fact the only type of “rules” that were enforced were to make sure Trump people didn't get to vote by using every trick in the book.

The CO delegates will never be seated at the convention just for those reasons alone.

When cheating becomes legal by the rules, then the word loses all meaning.

As I said, Rush Limbaugh himself said that Cruz benefited from the "greased skids" setup that the state GOPe engineered last August.

Spin it however you want, the People have passed their judgement.

Cruz's tactics certainly aren't those of someone who can be considered an "outsider" by any stretch of the imagination.

Cruz=GOPe. He's shown that repeatedly over the last several months, perfectly mimicking every line of attack that they have used against Donald Trump with their relentless campaign of character assassination.

The GOPe made their bed, Ted Cruz jumped in with them, and now they're all going to have to sleep in it.

RE: The rules written by the “#NeverTrump people?

The rules in CO were in place LOOOONG before Trump became the leading candidate. LOOONG before there was a movement called #NeverTrump.

RE: The CO delegates will never be seated at the convention just for those reasons alone.

Wanna bet?

Be that as it may ... why blame Cruz for what Colorado wrote as their rules?

You may dislike him, but Colorado is not a good reason for it.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: TED CRUZ ISN’T CHEATING, HE’S WINNING!

So, if you are going to cite Rush, at least acknowledge that he himself never called Cruz a cheater.

It’s a great reason. Cruz can’t win with the voters, so he wins with the “#NEVERTRUMP” GOP slime. He’s using a rigged system and he brags about it.
