Some Dallas police officers will soon be toting “sponge guns,” weapons aimed at reducing the chances of a deadly officer-involved shooting.

Police booster group Safer Dallas Better Dallas announced Thursday that it plans to raise $250,000 to help pay for more than 100 launchers that shoot sponge pellets. The “less lethal” weapons are meant to disarm and incapacitate someone from up to 100 feet away, police officials said.

Dallas has been enjoying a sharp increase in crime since the police shut down an expressway so the chief could have a procession honoring a cop killer.

So now he's willing to respond to drive down crime by arming his cops with nerf - type weapons.

Our obama-era cops are on the ropes now to the point they’re using toy weapons rather than spend a decade in court.

Do they need to consult an attorney before deciding who is sponge worthy?

I think if I were a policeman there I would resign immediately. Let the police chief safeguard the city,

Maybe the sponges will absorb the lead being shot at the officers...

If the sponges are soaked with nasty, smelly water, then I could see it.

All big city police departments are going to do what Baltimore did last year. They will de facto recognize “no go” zones for public safety. The locals get free rein to go “Escape From New York” with each other, and the cops, EMTs and Fire Departments just stay out.

Of course, the murder rate in Baltimore skyrocketed as a result. The police weren’t killing any unarmed black men. Other black men were killing armed and unarmed black men. Black lives only matter to blacks who take black lives.

That’s what they wanted, they shouldn’t complain.

Bringing a sponge to a lead fight? Not too advisable!

Anyone that would want to be a LEO today needs a psych evaluation. I heavily discourage those that talk to me about being one.

A lot of them have already left. Many have moved over to Fort Worth which has better working conditions and a higher pay scale.
