2016 Presidential election

Much of the discussion – and laughs – focused on Boehner’s views on the current presidential candidates. Segueing into the topic, Kennedy asked Boehner to be frank given that the event was not being broadcasted, and the former Speaker responded in kind. When specifically asked his opinions on Ted Cruz, Boehner made a face, drawing laughter from the crowd.

“Lucifer in the flesh,” the former speaker said. “I have Democrat friends and Republican friends. I get along with almost everyone, but I have never worked with a more miserable son of a bitch in my life.”

Boehner described other Republican candidates as friends. In particular, the former speaker said he has played golf with Donald Trump for years and that they were “texting buddies.”

I now like Cruz more than ever! Boehner was Obama's piss boy. All Republicans that "work well" with him are the problem, not the solution.

That’s the thing isn’t it? There is a reason he has no friends. Something is wrong with Cruz...really wrong .... people who have had to work with him cannot stand him from his school days ...his Bush White House days, and his time in the Senate. This is not a man who can lead this country.

So...we’re supposed to like Boehner now because he’s Trump’s buddy? Isn’t he the same liberal a$$hole he was 6 months ago?

Trump's alliance with Boehner should send people screaming for the exits, but of course it won't.

I've been noticing that. Emotion "trumps" rational thought (pun intended); many Trump fans have dug so deep in supporting their beloved candidate that absolutely NOTHING will shake them from voting for him. Heck, even if (God forbid) Trump died before the general election, some of his fans would probably still vote for him.

The man is publicly abortion-tolerant, publicly consenting to public accommodation of sexual perversion, and prepared to do anything and everything to aggrandize himself (which he doesn't hide). But his fans lionize him as a "champion of conservatives". SMH.

I have never trusted a man who has no friends.

Justice Roberts has plenty of them. That didn't work out too well either.

Nah that ain’t it. Cruz is just an unlikeable person. He still thinks he is the smartest guy in the room. He is still trying to prove that he is worthwhile. All he is doing is showing what a her he is.

Ted uses people. Where is Glenn Beck these days? Where are Ted’s gay supporters these days? Where is Ted’s dad these days? Ted uses people and tosses them aside like Kleenex.

You did read Ted’s op ed that he and Paul wrote in support of TPP?

Ted doesn’t care about America. Ted cares about power. Time for the career government employee to go back to his day job

So the GOPe has gone from backstabbing Cruz to jumping on the Cruz bandwagon and then again to backstabbing. They’re pathetic … really.

Bonehead wasn’t saying he couldn’t work with him. Johnny was saying simply what many have come to see in this election season....Ted Cruz is insufferable.

Way to go selling out the only conservative leader in Washington who doesn’t buckle at the knees. This has nothing to do with picking a nominee, that’s a different topic. The assault on Cruz in 2016 by so called conservatives is disgusting. Trump led it for no reason and The Following is repeating this garbage much to the detriment of the conservative movement.

I shouldn’t have said this as an absolute. There has been people who have no friends that have done great things.

He looked at the Congress as a social club rather than a legislative body.

It's both. Laws are made by people and we're social beings.

That's why successful legislators have good people skills.
