Bill Kristol Names Romney, Rubio, Tom Cotton As Third-Party Prospects If Trump Wins Nomination
Brietbart ^ | 25 Apr 2016 | Patrick Howley

Bill Kristol, son of Irving, names Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% , Mitt Romney, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) 79% , and others on his hypothetical shortlist of third-party candidates that he could run if Donald Trump becomes the Republican nominee.

The “Weekly Standard” editor and self-styled neoconservative power broker is back to talking about a third party, declaring that a Trump victory in Indiana would force him to re-focus on his so-called “Latter-Day Republicans” independent ticket. A third party could help to split the vote on the Right and elect Hillary Clinton president, which would allow Kristol to stave off the Trump threat and regain control of the party in 2020 without actually having to formally support Clinton.

But Kristol now has a shortlist of predictable options, including Mitt Romney and neoconservative rising star Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

I was excited about Palin. I liked her a heck of a lot better than McCain, but she was not a good pick and was handled poorly.

Name me another politician who did as she did- cleaned out corruption in her own party just after taking office. That's why the GOPe feared her. And why I liked her.

Bill Kristol will still be naming third-party prospects months after President Trump has taken office.

Not holding onto the White House isn't a problem, having a candidate who they haven't vetted and approved do so is intolerable.

And who has failed to pay his party dues, get in line and wait his turn!

What force is that? - I meant that it would be an “independent” run by powerful Republican establishment forces (backed by major figures in congress) rather than some lone wolf run like Anderson.

Bill Kristol is simply showing that he is more committed to having Hillary be President than the GOP nominee.

You are right! These folks like George Will and Bill Kristol, Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, Michael Medved, Hugh Hewitt blah blah are making it crystal clear what we have been saying is true and not just a matter of seeing the same thing differently.

Well Freepers looks like Rush is failing all over the place after listening to this. Probably won't ever waste the time on his show again.

Kinda sad

Hillary Clinton was an enthusiastic supporter of neocon wars of regime change and nation building. She voted and supported every war ever fought since Clinton.

I agree with the handled poorly part. She was intentionally sabotaged by Romney’s people. But without Palin, McCain would have only received die hard GOPe votes. Conservatives would have been tepid at best. As for a better pick, there was no VP pick that would have made McCain look better. The best pick would have been a presidential pick other than the GOPee candidates running.

It’s taken eight years but now everything is completely out in the open. We lost because the GOPee wanted to lose. They would rather have liberal democrats in office than conservatives. It was true then and it’s still true now. They are fighting Trump harder they have ever fought any democrat. No accident, that is their plan. Remember Mississippi.

Essentially, they are conservative ONLY on the national security leg. They were great fans of the first Clinton presidency.

Since when is the neoconservative program of nation-building and global Democracy (disguised as "defense" or "national security") a conservative foreign policy? It owes more to Woodrow Wilson and FDR than to any conservative, and has only come to define GOP foreign policy because of their disproportionate influence. Even within the GOP establishment, the neoconservatives broke with the rest of the party in supporting Obama and Hillary's Libya fiasco.

Kristol hates Trump for his views on immigration and trade, and he also hates Trump for wanting to bring back some sanity to US foreign policy.

Bingo!

There is one way to mount a third party challenge to Trump that would be on the ballot in most states. Win the nomination of an existing third party with ballot access.

The two best organized fringe parties are the Libertarians and the Greens. Both hate neoconservatives with a passion.

Tough luck, Billy boy.

Cotton attended Sea Island. And Hugh Hewitt has been boosting him since he was a Congressman.

Neither is a good sign.

Amen to that! I wonder what Kristol's tune is going to be now after Trump cleaned house yesterday.

I had predicted that he'd clear 50% in Pennsylvania and maybe 60% here in the southwest. I underestimated him on both counts.

Here’s my scenario:

Trump wins nomination based upon actual voter counts and Romney & others try to wrestle it from him.

Shrillary gets indicted.

Bernie gets Dem nomination.

IF Romney & his cohorts steal the Republican nomination, I will vote for Bernie in protest. I am a life long Republican & I am tired of see the GOPe doing their best to cancel all those votes by Americans.
