Republicans fret: Is Cruz crumbling?
The Washington Post ^ | April 22nd, 2016 | By Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 04/22/2016 2:13:29 PM PDT by Mariner

Sen. Ted Cruz’s wipeout in the New York primary, while expected, nevertheless rattled many Republican insiders and activists who did not foresee the magnitude of the defeat. Is Cruz crumbling? Was Wisconsin an anomaly? The Cruz campaign set itself up, sending the candidate to campaign for days in New York and suggesting that Cruz could pick off congressional districts. He didn’t, and worse, came in third. Expectations should have been kept low. Really low.

Just as they recovered from New York, anti-Trump Republicans looked up to see a batch of polls from the states that will be voting on April 26. Trump is ahead by a healthy margin in all of them. Gulp. Trump is winning by 18 points in one California poll. According to another report, Cruz is tied in two Indiana polls and behind in one. Yikes.

Congrats for being such a Cruzer liar.

I hope you're zotted by the end of the day.

“Trummp/Rubio is what’s shaping up.”

Who is this Rubio person? Name kind of rings a bell, but I can’t quite place it.

Does that really say “on the verge of capturing the Republican nomination”? How does being mathematically eliminated equal that?? Talk about denial!

But if Cruz does well in IN and in CA, then he will deny Trump the 1,237. The question will be by how much.

C'mon, Jeff.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas.

The wind is a Trump's back. Even if Cruz wins Indiana, it's not going to be enough, and as for California? Impossible.

Ted Cruz has not won before the convention (no chance at 1,237) and he's not going to have nearly enough delegates to win at the convention.

It's over.

The only question is the magnitude of Cruz's humiliation, and whether we'll have a bloody civil war at the convention. The bloodiest.

I can say with complete confidence that if Donald Trump is denied the nomination, regardless of securing it before the convention, the GOP splinters, voter enthusiasm is destroyed, Hillary wins in a landslide, and the GOP also gets obliterated in the House and Senate as well.

And they'll deserve it, as will everyone who participated in the demonization of Donald Trump. I've never seen a more slanted, dishonorable, un-Christian treatment of a decent American in my life.

Why is this the situation? Because the only thing that has blunted Trump's march to the nomination is the relentless, unprincipled, unprecedented campaign of character assassination to which Trump has been subjected. It has been non-stop, 24/7/365, and has been characterized by the most slanted propaganda, distortion, and outright malice.

It's absolutely incredible that Donald Trump is still standing at all. And he's standing tall.

Donald Trump is far from the perfect candidate, but he towers above the other choices, and that includes Ted Cruz. It's not even close.

If, somehow, the diabolical Establishent/Left/Media/GOPe/"me too" Cruz campaign unholy alliance succeeds in denying Trump the 1,237 before the convention, every GOP voter in America will know why that's the case.

Thus, the only option is a Donald Trump nomination or civil war and a splintered party. There is no other realistic, plausible scenario.

And it's the GOPe, Mitt Romney, and the Machiavellian Cruz campaign which have created the scenario, from which their is no turning back.

The bad blood is irredeemable. Mitt Romney and his ilk are the scum of the earth, as far as I'm concerned, and it will be a joy to see Romney removed from his leadership role in the party, repudiated, humiliated, and ignored for the remainder of his sorry existence.

That's why Ted Cruz can't succeed even if he gets the nomination. It's insanity.

It's Donald Trump or civil war. It's Donald Trump or the Revolution dies.

Donald Trump didn't create that bed: the GOPe did, and now they're going to have to sleep in it.

So Vote Trump, or all Hell is going to break loose, and rightfully so.

Mark my words...

Cruz is running against the people at this point. Total arrogance of “He knows best” silly voters. The guy is a complete ass.

That’s ok. It’s up to Jim and it’s his forum. I hope he tells me what you thought was a lie, though.

Cruz lost because his campaign was a catalogue of the kinds of political tactics that have reduced our elections to a mockery of representation.

Absolutely true.

For all his "outside" talk, when the going got rough, Ted Cruz instantly morphed into the most stereotypical, unprincipled, naked opportunist politician I've ever seen.

Cruz's campaign now epitomizes everything that the American people despise about career politicians.

Ted Cruz has become a caricature.

Vote Trump

Absolutely crumbling.

It’s going to be a cake walk for TRUMP on the First Ballot, and a well earned ambulance call for the Cruz delegates.

We will be hearing and seeing “CLEAN UP on Several Convention Aisles!”

Hope Cruz is crumbling .

Because Cruz will never build the wall nor bring back jobs and factories from China . Only Trump will do both of those
things.
China has stolen everything from us , Americans:

It may take stronger words than that, Jeff, and a unit of EMT’s to pry Cruz from his present destructive course.

He’s killing us. You know very well that TRUMP supporters are broadly suppressed from even serving as delegates if they say they are for TRUMP.

They are systematically voted down, based on the “litmus test” question, when asked how they will vote on Second and Third Ballots. Trump supporters simply can not say they will vote for TRUMP, whom they support. They must rather lie convincingly, and say that they are Cruz supporters to have an even chance to even be elected.

If Cruz doesn’t wake up and smell the coffee, he proves only that he is all ambition, and devoid of honor.

Rumor has it the LBJ had Kennedy murdered.
It needs to be someone who is safe and useful

somebody who gets votes, but actually agrees with Trump by many counterbalanced personality characteristics. guess who?

yep it will be Ben Carson

The current president is somewhere between one-quarter and half black
This presidential ticket would be one white guy and one genuine African American. Plus I really like Ben Carson he makes up for some of Trumps outspokenness and balances the ticket
