Donald J. Trump said Thursday that transgender people should be allowed to use whatever bathroom they feel most comfortable with — including at Trump Tower in New York.
Dipping into a contentious issue by taking a stand many Republicans oppose, Mr. Trump told a town-hall-style event, hosted by NBC’s “Today” show at Rockefeller Center in Manhattan, that when people go to the restroom, they should “use the bathroom they feel is appropriate.”
Mr. Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, was responding to a question about a bill that North Carolina’s governor signed into law last month that bars individuals in the state from using public bathrooms that don’t correspond to their biological sex — the one listed on their birth certificate. Since then, there has been a backlash from businesses and celebrities opposed to the state’s action. And transgender issues have pitted social conservatives against business interests that traditionally have been part of the Republican coalition in the South and elsewhere.
“North Carolina did something — it was very strong — and they’re paying a big price,” Mr. Trump said. “And there’s a lot of problems. And I heard — one of the best answers I heard was from a commentator yesterday saying, leave it the way it is, right now.”
He added that before the law passed, there had been “very few problems” but now North Carolina is experiencing an exodus of businesses and “strife” from people on both sides of the issue.
“You leave it the way it is,” he said. “There have been very few complaints the way it is.”
North Carolina’s law, which also removed anti-discrimination protections for L.G.B.T. people, and the backlash to it, is now at the heart of the state’s hotly contested governor’s race.

Not just a fiscal conservative. He’s a pragmatist.
His position is if it’s not broke, don’t fix it.
It’s not the transgenders who are causing a fuss. They use the room they want now.
It’s the liberals and the activists trying to drive a wedge between people and trying to get power over conservatives.

If I had predicted four years ago that the GOP nominee would favor the rights of Chester the Molester over women’s privacy in the bathroom, and conservatives would defend this candidate, people would have called me a lunatic.
Yeah I know! I’m a NC’er and we elected the 1st Rep Gov and Legislator in 100 years and you see what it’s gotten us? Attacks from all sides for passing sensible legislation. I’m waiting to see if our Gov and Leg CAVE or will they fight this to the end!

I’ve been on Trump’s side from the get-go but he may have just crossed the line.
This is just dumb because the Trannies will be in the boy's restroom with the young boys. If there is an epidemic of trannies molesting children in bathrooms, you should ban them from public restrooms entirely.
Why in sam hell would you even contemplate giving yet another avenue to the perverts you yourself call them?
It's already an avenue in 49 other states for decades and decades. There are perverts everywhere and making one more law, to add to all the other laws they break, doesn't actually solve anything.
1) When ppl have to go, they have to GO.
2) Truly Trangender ppl are "its" more than former men or women. They should be left to their own condition. How many ppl are we talking about anyway?. Have some compassion Cruzers and stop evil #Never Trumping. One person said that men shouldn't take their daughters into a men's bathroom.. I did many times in the malls while with my daughters and granddaughters.. I certainly couldn't take them into the Woman's BR. Some ppl here don't seem to have a real life.

I agree. As the Christian mother of two (who are now 16 and 18) I want people to know that we have been dealing with this for years. I remember taking my boys into the ladies room at a chain restaurant when they were young (approx. 4 and 6 years old). There was a man in a yellow sun dress, hairy back, giant lady shoes, bad wig and all. When we were done we went to the car as fast as our feet would carry us and when we got in the car we laughed so hard we cried. When we were done laughing, I just explained to them that sometimes people just aren’t happy with who they are.
As a Christian, I had no problem with this person using the ladies room because if she/he had entered the men’s room she/he would have surely gotten his/her face rearranged.

OR you could help keep little girls safe and keep sovereignty. Cruz actually fought for it AGAINST the establishment AND WON.
Donald only talks about sovereignty.
