Trump: Transgender people can use whatever bathroom they want
Politico ^ | 04/21/2016 | NICK GASS

Transgender people should be able to use whatever bathroom they want, Donald Trump said Thursday.

"Oh, I had a feeling that question was going to come up, I will tell you. North Carolina did something that was very strong. And they're paying a big price. There's a lot of problems," the Republican presidential candidate said during a town hall event on NBC's "Today."

Referring to comments from an unnamed commentator who on Wednesday said North Carolina should "leave it the way it is right now," Trump said he agreed.

"Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they're going through with all the business that's leaving, all of the strife -- and this is on both sides. Leave it the way it is," he said, referring to companies that have canceled plans to move or expand businesses in the state as a result of the law, which bans transgender individuals from using a bathroom that does not match their gender at birth.

"There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go. They use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate," Trump said. "There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic -- I mean, the economic punishment that they're taking."

Matt Lauer then asked whether Trump has any transgender people working for his company.

"I really don't know. I probably do. I really don't know," Trump said, answering that he would allow, say, transgender celebrity Caitlyn Jenner to use whatever bathroom she wanted at Trump Tower.

Who said anything about social engineering? Taxes should be for raising revenue. Period. Not for manipulating behavior.

Some level of government is necessary. Defense for instance. The burden for paying for it should be spread across everyone, not just the upper 40%, or cigarette smokers, or whatever.

I agree with Trump on this one. Leave bathrooms alone because there is no way to improve on the situation. Why would you want people who look like and identify as men using the women’s bathroom, and vice versa? Practically speaking, this is going to cause unending questions and chaos in bathrooms. And here’s a news memo for you: Public bathrooms have always been dicey places. You should not send young children there without parents. There’s a lot of sexual perversion in the world and it is perpetrated by all kinds of people seeking private places to do it — straight and otherwise.

I am not attempting to besmirch anyone. I read Trump's comments on transgendered men using woman's bathrooms. While reading the reports, Fox news reported Trump open to raising taxes. I'm not making this up. If he is open to raising taxes just on the rich...then ok. Still doesn't change my opinion one damn iota. Trump still is in favor of a progressive tax code.

We defeated the transgendered bathroom ordinance (ironically called the Hero ordinance) here in Houston, Texas. I am emphatically against gender confused men using ladies bathrooms...it is insane!

By the way, this transgendered bathroom push is not isolated. It is a nationwide effort by the progressives and LBGTQ lobby to change laws to protect them from the majority who are opposed to emotionally disturbed men sharing bathrooms with our sisters, daughters, moms.

I am also absolutely against the current tax code and the criminals at the IRS. With a progressive tax code comes the IRS to administer it. The IRS was used as a weapon in an effort to change the outcome of an American election. They attacked innocent Americans like Mrs. Englebreck of True the Vote to intimidate and silence her as well as scores of others.

Trump is WRONG on both issues. So, would you be happier if my voice was silenced? Are we still a representative republic with the ability to express ideas among one another?

If your position is to have dissent silenced, I'd hope and pray you never obtain a position in government...this is truly the sort of folks that breed tyranny.

Being dismissive on common sense issues is not a wise idea.

If Trump cannot understand a basic concept like this, he is NOT qualified to lead anything.

The definition of conservatism shifts left again. Make bathrooms normal again.

He said... ‘ the rich, including myself’.....
....and that’s it....Period

As far as the bathroom ‘thing’ I heard ...’the law should have remained as it was’ .....
....before the liberal involvement
He said it is causing much strife

My take, he is supporting North Carolina’s governor......
....the legislators should not have changed things.

As for Jenner, I have no idea, except Trump Towers is his home, and he would let the poor, confused creature in.

Whatever those of you on this forum who hate Trump will do the remainder of this day with this information, I don’t give a flying fig.

Trump has worked his heart out for 10 months to effect good and needful change.

I am as against transgender crapola as much as the next person, but that’s NOT what he was saying.

So Freepers now support raising taxes on “the rich”

This is not a new position for Trump. Last August he said hedge fund managers should be paying more. Corporations and middle class should pay less. Not an extreme position in my opinion.

The TSA works in a public place. But yeah, I get your point.

What the lefties really want is us all squatting on the sidewalks with all the bums.

Cruz has a big window right now.

How long before he jumps out of it?

Don't do it, Ted! We'll talk you down.

I personally heard him this AM saying he was open to raising taxes on the RICH.

So, IOW, he has adopted another Democrat issue.
How is he going to unite the GOP base if he keeps adopting the positions of the left? See my tagline

No he isn’t going to draw enough Democrats to counter that.

“So, at a children’s recreation basketball game held in an elementary school DOES TRUMP BELIEVE that said men (women) should go into the elementary school’s GIRLS REST ROOM?”

It is illegal for any adult to go into an elementary school’s restrooms. Schools have separate facilities.

This is sick, and getting sicker, as the man said.

Apparently Mr Trump thinks (at least on this issue) that money should be a factor in social decisions.

he was open to raising taxes on the RICH

He has said that in the past as well specifically hedge fund managers who pay the lower tax rate. But he said he would lower taxes on corporations and middle class.

He has also said he be cutting spending. Department of Education being top priority, then the EPA. If he cuts enough spending he won't need to tax the RICH more.

What was the perfect answer?

If you're a conservative, a good answer goes like this: "I'm not OK with it, but the states and locales should decide."

But... Trump isn't a conservative.

Watch as “conservatives” abandon morality in real time in order to conform their principles to the orange idol they worship.

Hearkens somewhat to The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis, when many of the Narnians choose to follow the false Aslan, then the syncretic Tashlan, and at last dropping all pretense by openly worshipping the demon Tash.

(That's the second time in as many days that I've referred to The Last Battle. Don't know why that had to be...)

“What about perverts? Can they use whatever bathroom they want?”

Absolutely, if anyone can use any bathroom he/she/it wants.
I am a small boned 5’4” woman which means most any man is stronger than I am. If I see a man in the bathroom when I walk in, I’m leaving and if one comes in while I am there, I’m leaving. I am considering hooking a bathroom on wheels to the back of the car. :o)

My problem with this is that it is discriminatory. Why should only the transgendered be allowed their choice of restrooms? Must the other 97.7% of us be relegated to second class citizenship?
