Internal documents show Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump's campaign advisers are projecting that the billionaire businessman will secure more than 1,400 delegates at the Republican National Convention in July, The Washington Post reported Wednesday.
That total greatly exceeds the 1,237 delegates necessary to secure the nomination on the first ballot.
The projection was in an internal campaign memo sent to Trump surrogates Tuesday night, after Trump secured a convincing win in the New York primary. It called the front-runner's win in New York "YUGE" and included talking points to use in media interviews.
It advised the surrogates to talk about the "rigged" primary process and to slam the Republican National Committee (RNC).
"The RNC has a lot to answer for as do those who are part of the donor class and the party establishment," the memo said.
"This movement scares the hell out of them and the people scare them, so they will do whatever they can to keep power."
The memo also slams presidential rival Ted Cruz. Trump conspicuously didn't reference his usual nickname of "Lyin' Ted" on Tuesday night after winning the New York primary.
"The Cruz spin machine produces more lies than anything else," the memo said.
It also includes talking points about policy issues and advises people to reference Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton's email scandal moving forward into the general election.
"Hillary email scandal is going to loom large over the next several months. If anyone else had done what she had done, they would already be in prison," it advised people to say of Clinton.
The Associated Press said Wednesday that Cruz was mathematically eliminated from securing the nomination on the first ballot, making Trump the only candidate who could get the nomination before the convention in July.
"We are headed to a contested convention at this point," Cruz said Wednesday.
"Nobody is getting to 1,237," he told Philadelphia radio host Chris Stigall.
GOP presidential candidate John Kasich has long predicted a contested convention.
Trump currently has 845 delegates, followed by Cruz with 559 and Kasich with 147, according to The Associated Press.
Woo hoo hand me money
Woo hoo hand me money
Deceptive Donnie and his cronies are delusional and dishonest.
This is a ridiculous projection.
You all think this is going to happen just because you say the same false nonsense over and over again?
Not going to happen.
I am still going with 1,300 ish.
I guess you’re supporting Hillary, then?
The “Presumptive Nominee”.
FACTS like these will swing weeks of media presumption as well, which in turn will also swing public opinion against the GOPE.
When it is all added up to include a HUUUUUGE lead means, that just as Romney did in 2012, TRUMP will have the clout and may well eject the fraudulent Cruz delegates posing as TRUMP supporters, from the floor.
Even Walker of Wisconsin is getting a spine and reading the tea leaves, which are easy to read, and bracing the stopTrump crowd and the Cruzaders for the outcome.
How much better than expected did Trump do in NY last night...10-15%?
If he continues to out perform he’ll reach his goal more easily than the pundits and dopey Cruz-bots think.
Then the election is sealed. Hillary will be President.
“I guess youre supporting Hillary, then?”
I won’t have to if he’s the candidate. He’ll bury himself and all of you with him.
This is a ridiculous projection.

Your opinion has been noted for the first annual, “Let Them Eat Crow” Freeper Thread. ;-)
My estimate a few weeks ago was 1307. I’m sticking with that.
Pretty clear.
Trump should cut the obvious deal with Rubio and Kasich this week and end the race next Tuesday so we can focus on Crooked Hillary.
The deal is simple: Ohio Gov. as Veep, Rubio as Sec’y of State and they get to staff with their key people - they give their delegates to Trump and its over next Tuesday night with the elections and we’ll never ever have to hear from Elmer Gantry Cruz again.
I just saw Cruz press conf from Florida - it’s obvious he’s trying to burn any chance to win away. He gave his thinking which is Jonestownian. He’s become a kamikaze. He was like that in the Senate so it should surprise no one.
I hope this is true. GO TRUMP GO
After next week there is going to be growing pressure for Kasich and Cruz to step down.
Thank you for post 13.
Walker might be the VP choice.
I have him at 1190-ish before the 129 uncommitted delegates vote. A proportional share of those will put him over. And that’s with him at zero in NE, SD, and MT.
To get to 1400 they must be very optimistic about those three states, and CA. And the uncommitted. They must also be counting on getting a good deal of Rubio’s.
I think the 1400 is something of a scare tactic to give the appearance of certainty and inevitability. But I hope they are right.
THAT would be cool. TRUMP had respect for Walker as a person, and Walker is himself a tough contender in bad country, and a Winner!
Good idea.
TRUMP has mentioned him once before, I believe, when cornered on the subject.
