Twenty-one people were wounded in an explosion on Monday, which hit Egged bus line 12 on Derekh Hevron and Moshe Baram Street in the southeast of Jerusalem, not far from Kibbutz Ramat Rachel. Police later confirmed it was indeed a bombing attack.
Large Magen David Adom (MDA) and police forces rushed to the site. Police say 21 people were wounded in the attack, at least two of them seriously and seven moderately with the rest lightly wounded. Rescue forces evacuated the wounded to the hospital. One of the victims reportedly is in critical condition.
While police had backtracked on their initial declaration according to which the blast was a terror attack, the director of the emergency care unit at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem where the wounded were treated estimated that it was indeed an attack.
"Some of the wounds of the victims who arrived to us are from nails and bolts that penetrated their bodies. It gives the impression of wounds from a terror attack," determined the doctor.
Jerusalem district police initially confirmed that the 12 line bus was targeted, and said it was hit by an explosive or suicide bomber who detonated inside the bus.
Police afterwards said they had not yet completely determined that the incident was a terror attack. That about-face came after it was found that in the incident a bus empty of passengers exploded and an adjacent bus with passengers on board as well as a private car took the impact, with the injuries occurring on the second bus and car.
Police: It was a bomb
Police later announced that an explosive was indeed behind the blast, and that the bomb was placed in the rear of the empty bus.
The police statement added that they continue to check the motives.... .....

Hopefully their comprehensive investigation uncovers the “motive” of putting a bomb on a commuter bus.
UNESCO is responding...claiming that very spot was the site of a holy masjid before occupation and the bomber was just defending his land.
This is a major escalation. I don’t believe that there have been any other bus bombings during this season of terror attacks that started on Rosh Hashana in September. In the past of course bus bombings have been the standard method of operations for the terrorists.
Meanwhile, today the soldier who last month shot a wounded terrorist who was wearing a heavy overcoat on a hot day was indicted for manslaughter. Defense Minister Yaalon said that dryly that “Israel isn’t ISIS”. With that phrase he again tried to turn public opinion against the soldier, this time by accusing the soldier of shooting as an act of terror against the Arabs. The soldier has said he was concerned that the wounded terrorist had a bomb hidden under his coat.
I’d hate to think it was meant for someone’s surprise party.
He doesn’t want to admit he was wrong, so he’s ruining the poor young man’s life for him. What a shmuck.
Anyone claim responsibility yet?
Obama has already said that it had nothing to do with Islam.
In his diseased mind, what does?
Yeh. To the tune of “ain’t no one here but us chickens.”
At a time when young Israelis’ patriotism is extraordinarily high, according to an article in this weekend’s Israel Hayom newspaper, it is a shame that this Defense Minister is demonizing a soldier and making it impossible for him to get a fair trial. I expect to see this type of arrogant, extreme behavior from leftists, but not from the defense minister in a center-right government. As far as I am concerned, Ya’alon should be fired.
Wonder if the Mayor said the same thing too?
Like this “American Mayor”....
This guys a scapegoat. It’s so obvious.
What a shame.
Bulldoze a house for every victim.
The Mayor of Jerusalem, Nir Barkat, is great. He does not whitewash the truth.
Iran would then step in and pay each family. I've read elsewhere that the going rate is $30,000 per house.
Can Netanyahu step in to ensure the soldier gets a fair trial?
I suspect that Netanyahu is keeping a low profile and biding his time until Obama can’t do any major harm to Israel.
They can easily take that out of the $150 billion Obama gave them.
Tax it at 50% and if they don’t pay, arrest them for tax evasion.
