“Again is there someplace I can read it as we keep hearing rules are done for each convention”
Rules:https://s3.amazonaws.com/prod-static-ngop-pbl/docs/Rules_of_the_Republican+Party_FINAL_S14090314.pdf
I will be voting for WHOEVER runs agains the Democrat at this point.
Thank you, Jim. I encourage all posters to stop the vitriol against BOTH candidates. I encourage you and your moderators to tell those who smear either Trump or Cruz to knock it off.
For the love of our nation, and in an effort to defeat Hillary, I encourage you and the moderators to keep FR a place where NEITHER candidate is smeared with unfounded allegations and nasty images.
To be direct: There are TONS of anti-Cruz images on this site. TONS. Every thread. To facilitate your request, and to invite the goodwill of both Trump and Cruz supporters, please encourage FReepers to stop trashing EITHER candidate.
I’ve never been more convinced that we are experiencing a MAJOR SPIRITUAL crisis in our land.
God is allowing this chaos and we need to as a nation fall to our knees in repentance and willingness to turn from our evil and sinful ways and call out to God.
We need to do what Esther called for in the Book of Esther wnen she heard of the fate of the Jews.. call the people to prayer and fasting.
No other way will save us at this point.
Well I guess that makes me an imbecile. Ted Cruz is a globalist, yall seem to think the battle is conservative/progressive it is not, the battle is globalist/nationalist. Cruz and Hillary are both uniparty globalists that will help the oligarchy implement their NWO. I will never vote for an anti-American globalist. Go TRump!
“what else has he done?”Where was Trump when all that was going on? “
Let me think, oh ya !! .. he was running his business.
http://www.trump.com/
Take a look, whatever you think of him, it’s pretty impressive, right??
And I would argue that Trump has done more for the country by signing 10,000 paychecks every week. And he was a pioneer in mentoring and raising career prospects for women in the construction and development industry.
And he championed and had success with issues in his campaign so much so that the other candidates(Cruz) can’t back away from them in the general. For a non-politician I think he’s done pretty well!!!
The following teams have won the World Series as a wild card team: Marlins (1997 and 2003), Angels (2002), Red Sox (2004), Cardinals (2011) and Giants (2014), meaning that three consecutive titles were won by a wild card (20022004). A wild card team appeared in the World Series each year from 20022007.
But, even more important, perhaps most important and phasing out the sports analogies for the moment, are the issues. Why are we Republicans in the first place. I deeply believe the divergence from the Constitution, free market capitalism, federalism... even the enlightenment, of the last 100 years is a big part of the problem. We need to get back to the issues, and not the scandal of the day, who rubbed whose arm, or who worked the caucus delegates last night. Since I believe Cruz is a better candidate for this job, I will support him till Trump gets his 1237+ (before, ballot #1, or later), but will "root" for Cruz until then, or hopefully Cruz gets there first. We can debate who has an advantage in November till the cows come home. Whether Cruz has a better chance, or Trump does, is immaterial. Cruz embodies what I want to see in the executive office for the next 4 years much more so than Trump, and IMHO can and must win in November. Either way, there will be "I told you so's" if Trump as the nom loses or if Cruz as the nom loses. Whoever is the nom, if they lose, we at least go down fighting for who we perceive as the best candidate.
Without Romney and Beck and at least a wink and nod that he would not mess with the open border and illegal immigration I do not think Cruz would have won Utah unless the vote was split up for him to barely win. In Utah Mormons vote the way their church leadership tells them to vote.
Illegal immigration is my core issue, not only because I live on the border but because I think the border issues are so far out of control at this point that security, jobs, economy, social services burden, crime, etc. cannot be fixed unless illegal immigration and refugee issues are dealt with.
I believe Trump realized the immigration issue is so far out of control it is threatening our entire way of life in this country, and that is the reason he decided to run to begin with. I think before he either did not believe the threat was that bad or he thought someone else would deal with it.
Many still have not realized how big of a problem/burden the illegal issue is. It is the elephant in the room while everyone is talking about the elephant poo around the room and wondering how to clean it up. Does no good to try to clean up the elephant poo if the elephant is still in the room. Take the elephant outside and the job of cleaning up the mess gets quite a bit easier.
Trump is a successful businessman. So is Michael Bloomberg, but I wouldn’t want him for President. My point is, I don’t believe Donald Trump’s illegal immigration rhetoric. I simply don’t think he’s serious. But, that’s me.
Do most states allow write ins now? I don’t think my state does.
I always thought they did.
the omega 13 scenario would be for Trump/Cruz to use the libertarian party as vehicle or conservative party or write in for the rest.
Really dont see how Cruz and Trump can both be locked out.
But then, Ginsberg locked out Ron paul people with rule 40b.
No one steals delegates. They vote their convictions.
The primary season is not an election. That's why we have such a hodge podge of state level processes to select a nominee. Open primaries, closed primaries, caucuses etc. If a state level Republican or Democrat party decided to flip a coin, it would be their rules (I believe this actually happened in the Democrat primary.
So, what happens with all the delegates that went to Carson and the others? No one can tell them they have to vote for Trump or Cruz. I don't even think Carson or the others have the authority to give their delegates to another person. They may be bound to vote for the original candidate, but after the first ballot, its up for grabs.
We had a President selected by a plurality (Clinton), and where did that get us. Let's hope that after it is all over, we can unite behind the nominee and defeat the Democrat nominee.
“So is Michael Bloomberg, but I wouldnt want him for President.”
We can definitely agree on that! I think we can both be thankful that between two candidates that agree on issues 80%, because of the way this campaign has gone, either one of them will have to be as true as they can to their promises. And beat the Beast !!
Trump’s organizations have over 22,500 employees.
“I no longer consider, Ted Cruz, a viable option, Mr. Robertson.
He is completely in bed with the GOP establishment and is not the outsider that he claimed to be.
Its Donald Trump or we stay at home.”
I think you have confused Mr. Robertson with Jim Thompson. In any event you are a troll.
You keep trying, and failing, to find a sports metaphor.
Is it a baseball game, a playoff system, what?
There is no anology. In this event, everyone is supposed to be on the same team. One of the people will move on to the next round, at which the LOSERS will be rooting for the winner, and may even help his team. The people who keep score get to take points away or award at random, depending on who they like. The first one to a majority wins, but there are more than 2 players, and a bunch of "free range" points (delegates) roaming around, who can go to any player at any time. If you don't win in the first round, you move to a second round, but it doesn't start over, you get to keep your score, but the judges take some from you, or the free range points may switch sides.
Find me a game that matches that. You won't. So quit trying.
Freebies, promises or schmoozing to get a delegate to flip is disgusting. I feel that way now and I would feel the same way if they were given a ride on Trump Force 1 and a relaxing stay at Mar-A-Lago. It may be legal but it certainly isn’t ethical. It stinks to high heaven.
“Trumps organizations have over 22,500 employees.”
Didn’t know, Thanks :)
Yes, in the south in the 50s. There was no Republican party; Thurmond, the sitting senator, just had to beat a democrat challenger. It can happen sometimes in a state, especially south carolina in 1954. It can’t happen in a national presidential election. You won’t even get one state as a write in. Might be able to get some states as a third party candidate on the ballot, but the 3 way split favors the major parties. Best to organize and put the RNC out of business first.
No problem.
I read it about five months ago, and have run into it a number of times.
Take care.
That wont be happening this cycle.
Best bet is for Trump/Cruz to take it over .
The other alternative are far worse.
