Comedian Jay Leno raised 50,000 for and donated a $36,000 fully equipped ambulance to United Hatzalah at a sold-out special concert fundraiser for Israels largest volunteer EMS service at the Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York on Sunday.
The former Tonight Show host performed a long comedy set and called Eli Beer, the founder and president of the organization, up to the stage after his act, telling him: What you guys are doing is so special, I am so proud to be here and be part of it. I have 117 motorcycles in my collection but none of my motorcycles save lives. I want to donate an ambulance with all of the trappings.

And that don't happen often.
You’re a mensch, Jay.
CAIR won;’t like this.
Neither will the UN, the EU, or Obama/Jarrett.
Ping
I liked his videos about his steam car and stationary steam engine. You can tell in the videos that they aren't just things in a collection. He really cares about them.
I know he’s a Dem, but I found him pretty fair, except in the ‘afterglow’ of Obama’s ascension in 2008. We like his Garage too, but it hasn’t been on for a while here.
I wonder where he found a fully equipped ambulance for $36,000? Our newest one was about $104,000, bare. And that’s not one of the big monsters that some big city fire departments have...
Or all the Special Snowflake Nazis on College Campii.
Meh. When you have a net worth of over $350 million, $36,000 is pocket change.
True, but he didn’t have to do it at all. There are innumerable people in his business who wouldn’t be caught dead raising a dime for “apartheid” Israel. You know, the BDS movement crowd. So Jay’s alright with me.
That was my first question too.
I was thinking somewhere closer to $200K
Israel is usually the first country to send medical and other aid to countries which have experienced natural and other disasters. I send my donations to Israel’s Magen David rather than the corrupt Red Cross organization because I know the money will be used to help people rather than pay padded salaries. So kudos to Mr. Leno. He “gets” it.
His Garage show is on YouTube and has been for years. The recent “new” network show related to it hasn’t been getting a good reception so more content is now back on YouTube.
I wonder if he could have done this while he was still on NBC? Would they have demanded he give an ambulance to the PLO?
Yup - $36k gets a bare-bones chassis, ready for conversion to order for the patient box, lighting/electrical, med gear, etc. As another noted, the final bill really doesn’t matter since Jay has resources. They’ll get a fully and properly equipped ambulance because Leno doesn’t do junk.
The original story probably had the correct term ‘ambucycle’ and the Auto SpellCheck/Corrector that they used changed it to the incorrect spelling afterwards in all the subsequent publications.
A scary thought: Our spell checkers could be influenced by PC political correctness at a push of a button.
When the US govt. agencies have to purge any references to XXXXXXX, XXXXX and XXXXXX, from all their manuals and reports, we should be aware they have the means to apply those rules to corrupt our Internet.
Just randomly changing a letter here or there, with our postings would explain why so many replies make little sense.
Sorry got carried away abit - pet peeve.
A fully equipped 4 wheel ambulance would have to be 120 - 150 thousand dollars. Still need them to catch up to the ambucycle when the patient needs to be taken to the hospital after.
3 minute response time is very good.
Thank you Jay!
I think this the original article with the correct spelling:
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
