Cruz uses party rules to pursue delegates. Here’s what Trump thinks of that.
Washington Post ^ | 4/11/16 | David Weigel

Donald Trump used his first campaign rally in western New York to attack Sen. Ted Cruz for something the Texan happily boasts about: mastering party rules to elect his delegate slates to the Republican National Convention.

“They’re trying to subvert the movement,” Trump said to thousands of voters crammed into a frigid airplane hangar Sunday. “They can’t do it with bodies, so they’re trying to subvert the movement with crooked shenanigans.”

The Rochester rally was only Trump’s second in the 14-day New York campaign, and his first since Cruz swept Colorado’s 34 available delegates in a series of conventions. Trump’s hastily assembled delegate-chasing operation, which had been optimistic about the state, bumbled through a series of votes and came out empty there.

In an interview Sunday morning on “Meet the Press,” Trump’s newly promoted convention manager, Paul Manafort, accused Cruz of “Gestapo tactics.” The Cruz campaign, which describes its convention wins as proof of momentum, responded with mockery.

“It’s no surprise that Trump’s team will lash out with falsehoods to distract from their failure,” said Cruz communications director Alice Stewart. “We have earned our success by working hard to build a superior organization.”

I think Trump should drop out of the Republican nomination since it's clearly rigged against him and just go after the general election. Pull a Perot, but do it successfully.

And then stick it to the Repubican party once he's in office.

Sander remain in the race even when Democrats are rigging it against him. I say Trump should stay and see if he could over come it. If he fail to over come the rigging then go third party

I agree, if Trump has the 1237 stolen from him this is a prime election season to win as a Third Party.

Democrats alienated 40% of their voters regarding Sanders with shenanigans as well.

I think a Trump third party wins 43%, Hillary 39%, Kasich 17% and the rest 1%.

I want Mr. Trump to stay IN and fight to the finish.

In the meantime, he could have a team look into getting on all ballots via a 3rd Party.

I think he could actually WIN because the GOP will be DEAD to at least 42 - 45 % of voters.

Trump might even be able to run Libertarian.

LOLOLOLOLOL.

Trump controls the public narrative and he is going to paint the picture on Cruz as a sneaky, snaky, conniving cheat and this smart aleck play by Cruz will hurt him more than Cruz realizes. Furthermore, it just verifies what others have said about Cruz.

The RNC set up these rigged primary rules to elect Jeb Bush without voters.

Since Bush has joined Cruz, that is how they are doing it.

I hope Trump ends up third party if he loses by the cheat factor, the sleazebag GOPe Cruz deserves it.

What is being done in Indiana is downright sleazy. The voters haven’t even voted yet and they have to hear that their votes don’t count.

This also will depress vote turnout. Typical Cruz.

Ted is an immoral man.

Cruz is trying to win, not by getting the most votes, but by political and legal nuance. Typical insider. Typical lawyer. Typical politician. Good thing he won’t succeed.

I as a voter am going to take a very good look at a party that uses “party rules!” to disenfranchise its voter base. I don’t like Trump at all, but i REALLY don’t like this GOPe. A “delegate” is person delegated by the voters in that person’s bailiwick to represent those people by voting as the people voted, as in, well, “my unit went for Trump” or, “my unit went for Cruz”, etc etc. A party that fusses with that to achieve the result the oligarchs want needs to be rejected and sent back to Europe!

Cruz's campaign has entered a new phase. That would be acquiring delegates without any voting involved.

Trump's campaign has entered a new phase. That would be doing everything necessary to dismantle someone who doesn't play fair.

I suspect that the Colorado situation might in the long run boost Trump. There couldn't be a more clear indication of Cruz's character and integrity.

I wish one Cruz supporter could explain, without sarcasm, to me how Cruz can win a general election. This is a nation that voted twice for Obama, insists on unlimited freebies, demands special “rights” for gays and illegals, allows BLM to destroy cities, and demands abortion for all.

I think we can gradually over time and with prayer move our nation back to a Judeo-Christian nation with freedom. I can not fathom a Bible thumping Dominionist who to many appears a hypocrite being overwhelmingly elected against the two Dems who support all the above.

Well, I support Trump but there comes a time when the whining stops and he pulls his head out of his butt regarding the garnering of these delegates.

Stop saying it’s unfair and beat Cruz at his own game already.

Actually, it is the "never Trump" state party apparatus at work in Indiana.
