To the frantic manager of a Coon Rapids Burger King Friday night, the choice was to act fast or face disaster.
A caller who said he was a fire department official said there was a gas leak in the building and that unless the windows were smashed, a gas buildup in the building would cause an explosion. So the manager and Burger King employees evacuated the restaurant and started smashing ground floor windows. Every single one.
Problem was, it was a hoax. The caller was no firefighter. There was no gas.

Kind of like the Democrats and global warming.
Can’t fix stupid
I read somewhere that the exact same thing happened at a BK in Texas on the same night.
Prison time for the hoaxster.
Another reason why this sort of business is going to try to automate its workforce as fast as possible.
A very large percentage of our national population is not worth employing in any business. The implications of that are disquieting.
How stupid can they get? If you don’t smell gas... Then there’s NO gas leak. Just damn ignorant and stupid.
I guess that includes management.
Gas, both natural and propane have a scent added to it so as to be noticeable. The manager was an idiot. Read: http://nlsd.net/index2.html
I wonder if insurance covers windows broken by employees who decide what they need to do is break all the windows.
The manager has to have a double digit IQ.
"....good thing he didn't say a gas build up in their shorts"
EMMMMbarrassing! The Manager has to know that next scheduled automatic raise has been, shall we say “Postponed Indefintely”
Duh, gee, boss.........
Wow! Even very simple critical thinking could ferret out the lie here.
How would the fire department know there was a gas leak in the building unless they were on the scene?
If they were on the scene they would use fans to ventilate the building and direct the evacuation and ensure that it was complete.
The fire departments mission is to prevent or minimize the destruction of property not to direct its destruction.
never liked their hamburgers anyway............
Not everybody is aware that gas smells, but he should have been with it enough to close the restaurant and call the fire department from across the street.

whoppers are sinfully delicious.
