Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor says the nations highest court needs more diversity in personal background and professional experience. [ ]
The courts first Latina justice says she feels theres a disadvantage to having a court made up entirely of Ivy League graduates who are either Catholic or Jewish, several of them from New York. She notes that none specialized in criminal defense outside white-collar settings.

Want diversity? I say grab a name at random from the phone books of 9 American cities. There is your at random lady! And I think we’d have a pretty good court too.
I’m pretty sure she’s pimping for a Caitlin Jenner appointment.
She needs to be removed a sap.
They need to have more non Harvard grads.
The need to figure out why Catholics make better SCJs.
And of course, Stare Decisis means you value Justices opinions more that the words of the constitution.

Unwise Latina got a promotion waaaaay over her head. She could have been head of housekeeping services at the Las Vegas Hilton as the pinnacle of career success. So much more her speed and a service to the nation instead of a lieberal bench occupant with inferior brains.
Yeh the court needs three more wise white, black or Hispanic conservatives. :-)
I might agree - might - if greater diversity would have one qualification, that is that every new member of court agreed that they are members in order to judge whether any matter that comes before it must be evaluated as to its CONSTITUTIONALITY. By constitutionality I mean the bottom line is the Constitution in its original intent.
If something needs to be changed in the constitution, then do it according to the constitution, which plainly allows for amendments.
I am so sick of fad-driven, trend-driven, ideology-driven reinterpretation of the wording of the constitution that clearly does not mean what the people trying to change the meaning say it means. This is sheer delusion. Words mean something. It is not that difficult to ascertain. If the words don’t please you, find an orderly way to address what you see as a problem. Otherwise it will lead to anarchy. (Which I know is the goal of some.)
Sadly, diversity has come to mean that we as a nation cannot and do not agree on much of anything; and the side that screams and throws frightening enough tantrums wins.
A steaming pile from the WIDE Latina.
That bitch need impeachment.
She’s acting as a politician, not a judge. impeach her.
I share your dissatisfaction with Kennedy, but consider this: he has been quoted as saying, because he was appointed by a Republican, he will not retire until another Republican can appoint his successor. That might be his greatest achievement.
Sonia: The Supreme Court is not a social program. Even though you stupidly believe that is what it is. Your mentality shows that you have absolutely business being there.
Goldie Hawn? Henry Gibson?
I agree, let’s make three permanent appointments for SCOTUS to only be occupied by veterans. If they are asked to risk their lives to support and defend the constitution, they sure deserve a seat at the table. (Veterans with law degrees, while I thank them for their service, should be barred from these three positions.)
I’m sure that will give the diversity that other justices crave.
A few people with some respect for the Constitution would be nice.....
Catholics are the most populous single religion.
Interesting observation.
I think the idea is, on one level, that there isn’t any truth, so we might as well get votes from as many contingents on earth as possible.
But on another level, it’s that it’s pretty easy to lead these shallow followings around by the nose.
Now I didn’t say there was no truth! I’m just saying that’s what the idea seems to be.
