CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR CHAIR DANCINGThis weekend, Ill be posting the kind of classical music you can enjoy while spinning around in your chair and otherwise acting like your inner child.
DVORAK: SYMPHONY #6 in D, OP. 60, PRESTOAlthough Tony Dvorak uses a 3/4 time signature throughout, he works around the bar lines by alternating phrases of two with phrases of four. This is a Czech folk dance known as a furiant. The slower middle section is a kind of waltz.
Dvorak: Symphony #6 in D, Op. 60, third movement

CLASSICAL MUSIC FOR CHAIR DANCING
LALO: TRIO FOR PIANO, VIOLIN & CELLO IN A MINOR, OP. 26, PRESTOEd Lalo thought so much of this scherzo that he orchestrated it. His cello writing is questionable, but this movement is fun because of all the cross-rhythms he writes into a simple 3/4. The middle section is lyrical with accents on the off-beats.
Lalo: Piano Trio in A minor, Op. 26, second movement
