I was surfing FR this afternoon and suddenly was unable to access any page on FR and the error stated the server could not be found.
I located the IP address, 209.157.64.200, of the server and then added an entry into my PC's host file and I can now see FR again.
I still do not see a DNS entry for FR, and that is interesting.
Comcast is having a BIG outage around the country.

Work PC can find it via IP address, just not DNS.
I can get there from my cell but not my laptop
I was getting that dumb Time Warner Cable redirect page for about 30 minutes or so.
Jim, this is the message I get:
This site cant be reached
freerepublic.coms server DNS address could not be found.
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
Then I get a box under that that says “Saved Copy”
I click on that and get to FR’s current page.
Googles’s 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 do not show an entry for FR but other DNS servers I’ve tried do (as of right now).
Just now happened to me on an old apple running chrome - my samsung galaxy s5 is seeing FR right this s3cond so I can type
It is definitely gone. What other forums can we use to get the word out?

Could be any number of causes.
Try a complete reboot, including modem.
Yesterday morning I noticed my smartphone lost its WiFi. On further examination, I noticed that my laptop, TiVo also lost WiFi.
I had to reboot every peripheral, including the modem/router.
This happens occasionally when the cable company messes around and makes updates to the local system.
Since the reboot, everything has worked fine.
Yep. Can’t get to FR on wifi. Phone data seems to be ok.
