Cruz snaring Trump's Arizona delegates

Sen. Ted Cruz is out-hustling Donald Trump and looks set to ensure many Arizona delegates will defect to him in a convention floor fight.

The Texas senator, who ever since Iowa has played a stealthy ground game in contrast to Trump's chaotic populism, is taking steps to snatch the Republican presidential nomination from The Donald at the convention in July.

The New York businessman easily won last month's Arizona primary taking 47 percent to Cruz's 25 percent, scooping up all 58 of the state's delegates. That's nearly 5 percent of the 1,237 Trump needs for the nomination, and they're tied are to him on the first ballot.

But Cruz, exploiting deep opposition to Trump among grassroots Republicans, has been far more active in Arizona than Trump, insiders say. He's recruiting candidates for the available 55 delegate slots, that along with the other three delegate positions filled by party leaders, would be allowed to vote for him in a multi-ballot contested convention.

Disenfranchisement is not a conservative value. We might as well have those party hack Super Delegates the Rats have.

The delegates supporting the losers should switch to the candidate that is actually popular with the voters in order to give their party the best chance in the general election. It’s common sense to everyone but Cruz supporters.

I see, interesting proposition. I suppose many could switch on the second ballot at the convention, right?

No one is trying to stop anyone who hasn’t voted yet from voting.

What we are concerned about is that those of us who HAVE voted for Trump are seeing our votes stolen by St. Ted.

RE:”What we are concerned about is that those of us who HAVE voted for Trump are seeing our votes stolen by St. Ted.”

Not votes, delegates.

Votes don't win the nomination, delegates do.

Too bad you folks picked a candidate who doesn't seem to understand that.

No. But after the first ballot, delegates tend to be free to vote for anyone. What is wrong with that?

Because most of the delegates are hand picked by the Washington Cartel...The delegates have nothing to do with the voters...The delegates are all RNC...It's a loaded game...What it amounts to is only Cruz delegates will be allowed to vote...

Precisely. Steal what you can steal is the by-word of the corrupt Cruz campaign. To hell with voters.

I’m so glad you guys are exposing yourselves.

RE:”I’m voting third party if the nomination is stolen. Gop can lose to Hillary, I won’t care.”

Not another one.

I been getting these “Hillary is my next choice after Donald” comments all day.

I dont want Hillary supporters deciding my nominee anyway.

Trumpees? It’s the Cruzers who are win at all cost even with dirty tricks. That’s why the GOP os dying since instead of joining forces Cruz is sowing the seeds of discontent and division.

nearly all this site wanted to do away with the establishment and now some of those people are for the establishment, yes they deny it.
The fact is that the establishment saw if they cold get a contested convention then they could get their guy, cruz is helping and watch cruz go west while Kasich stays in the north eat to strip more delegates and then they say this is not a plan by the establishment and they are not helping them.

Ok then. But it sure is sounding like Trump will unfairly be stripped. I am unsure the divisive nature of the primary can be healed. So if it gets to the point where I am sure it is heading then I have nothing to lose by not supporting the person selected not elected as nominee.

What you say may be true, but he needs to bring it anyway and knock Cruz out to win the nomination and prevent them from picking someone else.

Well maybe you'll care when Hillary take Obama’s polices and cements them.

Or maybe not, you may be a closet Democrat and just don't know it. Trump was one, he seems comfortable with it.
