Donald Trumps announcement that he no longer stands by a pledge to support the GOP has thrown his hold on South Carolinas 50 delegates in doubt.
The Palmetto State was one of several that required candidates to pledge their loyalty to the partys eventual nominee in order to secure a slot on the primary ballot. Though Trump won all of the states delegates in the Feb. 20 primary, anti-Trump forces are plotting to contest their binding to Trump because of his threat on the pledge Tuesday.
The loyalty pledge is nothing new in South Carolina, where it has been required for decades, but took on new focus in light of Trumps public musings about a third party run or withdrawing his support from the eventual nominee if he is stopped at a contested convention.
When asked about if he still would pledge to support the eventual Republican nominee during a town hall Tuesday with CNNs Anderson Cooper, Trump said No. I dont anymore, adding that he has been treated very unfairly.

A threat is not the same as doing.
I can see now why they asked for something so stupid.
It just never ends.
But Cruz says the same thing, and oh well that’s cool.
These people are fudging crooks down to the last rat.
What about Ted Cruz?
Ted Cruz Shifts Away From Pledge to Support GOP Nominee

These idiots are playing with fire. The GOP must have a death wish.
None of the three remaining candidates are now willing to say they will support the party nominee. This is solid gold to Clinton, Sanders of whoever else the Rats might be thinking about.
Bingo! You nailed it right there.
Ted said the same thing.
Correct me if I'm wrong but none of the candidates said that they would definitely support the nominee, so none of them can qualify for the delegates.
How many delegates will cRUz lose for not supporting the BS pledge?
Maybe RNC shouldn’t be in charge of ANY delegates....since they can’t stick to set rules.
My Republican elected officials in SC will be receiving notice from me that they had better see to it that this does NOT happen. I don’t care if it’s their job or not. If they expect to receive my vote EVER again going on down to dog catcher, they better damn well make sure it doesn’t happen.
Hint: They won’t go to Kasich.
So then all three candidates lost delegates?
The gasoline is on the GOP. The question is whrn they decide to throw the match.
If this is true then Cruz and Kasich lose their delegates since they are on record as saying they would not support the nominee!
If Trump breaks his pledge, losing the 50 delegates won’t matter.
At that point, the GOPe will be in control of things, not the voters.
I’m voting Trump, period. Even if I have to write his name in. If that gives us Bernie or Hillary, fine. We will hit reset that much sooner.
Cruz and Kasich said much more strongly that they would not support the nominee.
No word on that.
The system is rigged against Trump.
How about the others. Did they also take the pledge?
They have broken the pledge.
My guess.....Ted’s “unknown, not related, never heard of them” underlings are up to no good .....again.
They can all calm down.
This is an empty story.
