Given the dire warnings over the threat of global warming, it would be reasonable to expect nearly two decades without a rise in average global temperature to be cause for celebration.
Not so. Instead, its a call for more punishing legislation.
WND reported last September efforts by some two-dozen scientists with major U.S. universities to convince President Obama to use the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act RICO to prosecute opponents who deny mankind is causing catastrophic changes in the climate.
Now, a California state senator is proposing a law that would make climate deception prosecutable for 30 years under Californias Unfair Competition Law, extending the statute of limitations from the current four years, reported InsideClimate News.
The Climate Science Truth & Accountability Act, introduced by state Sen. Ben Allen, D-Santa Monica, would give the California attorney general, 58 county district attorneys and the city attorneys of every city with more than 750,000 people a 30-year window to launch investigations and lawsuits for claimed acts of unlawful, unfair or fraudulent business act[s] or practice[s] and unfair, deceptive, untrue or misleading advertising related to climate change.
What do YOU think? Sound off on extending the time to prosecute climate deception
The law could also be used by private citizens showing harm in civil suits and in stockholder suits.

The legislation springs from a report by the Union of Concerned Scientists that claims Exxon Mobil insiders were aware of the negative impact of their product fossil fuels on the environment as early as 1977. According to documents, a company researcher told Exxons Management Committee, There is general scientific agreement that the most likely manner in which mankind is influencing the global climate is through carbon-dioxide release from the burning of fossil fuels.

Welcome to the New and Improved Dark Ages, brought to you by your local commies!
Garbage. Environmental Wacko Birds. And you can be sure the head bird brain in the White Hut will rubber stamp ‘em.
The wording in this law makes it a godsend, the deception, including verifiable manipulation of the scientific data, has all been on the "green" side. Under this statute, we could definitely bring Michael Mann to court, possibly Al Gore.
Unless I find out something else about the law, it seems from here it could cut both ways.
ANYONE, ANYWHERE claiming that human activity causes the climate to change should get a mandatory life sentence at hard labor -- or at their option, execution. Such subhuman trash is literally at war with civilization, and with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thanks HomerBohn.
Round up Algore and all the Watermelons who said we’d be frying and underwater by now, they obviously lied.
Somewhere in hell, Trofim Lysenko is smiling.
Of course Al Gore and all the global elites pushing this fraud are lying. If they really believed in “global warming” they wouldn’t live as they do.
We all know the “law” would be selectively enforced against”deniers.”
Article is a trial balloon anyway.
“Union of Concerned scientists?” Could they have chosen a more commie sounding name?
The Coal Industry should take out a full page ad saying “Climate Change is real. There. We said it.” Then, fight all new regulation and simply posit that it’s “too late to do anything about it”, and site the scientists who agree. Let the Left deny THAT.
The Left isn’t that stupid. They want to criminalize any speech that is contrary to their goals. They’ll continue to move the goalposts with regards to the definition of “climate change” to suit their needs.
Courts prosecute breaking of the law that happened at some point in the past. Since when does the court have jurisdiction over events that are nothing more than a theory and compute model based upon the future?
This could boomarang big time especially with law makers profiting off of their warmist laws.
Ex Post Facto law.Should only be applicable to actions taking place after the law is passed.
