Day #2 – (Afternoon) The Daily Beast reveals source of story was Marco Rubio campaign operatives. Multiple reports confirm video exists of encounters.
Day #3 – Former Cruz Communications Director faces increased social media scrutiny for flirtations and intimate behavior.
Today, Roger Stone, the man specifically accused by Senator Ted Cruz of planting the story, speaks out in interview. Denies involvement, points out MSM is indeed researching the video (showing encounters / not direct sex tape) and substantive claims, and points out Ted Cruz won’t sue the National Enquirer:

Easy to sue, hard to win.
So why not sue? Not as a means to win, but to prove that you'd get up on a stand and swear on a Bible that none of it was true?
We know Ted's campaign has known for a long long long time that this was out there. So, they've discussed how to deal with it. If he doesn't have something tomorrow that puts this to bed, it's hard to see how some of it's not true.
The thing is, none of the evidence so far is conclusive, it's just heavy smoke, but because it's just smoke - how hard can it be to categorically deny the claims in their entirety? Why call it trash? garbage? Cruz is a lawyer, as you said, he knows that's meaningless.
That said, I think we need a man, who can push back just as hard as Obama pushed...Mo' bettah'

I don’t know what you mean by support. I have said only the candidates that win eight States should be considered. Right now that is Trump. When Cruz gets to eight he will be eligible. Anything else is unacceptable.

Keep up the good work BFAC. Vetting a candidate can be ugly business. Clinton oozed by and Obama got a pass. Cruz brought this on himself.

Those of us waiting to reach judgment aren’t saying, stop reporting the facts. We want to know if a candidate is going to be another philandering jerk.
Here you go: No. I won't support it. Trump and Cruz are the only ones who have won, or will win the currently required 8 state primaries.
The GOPe will have to play fast and loose with the rules for anyone else to get the presidential nod.

I had heard rumors last year from a reliable source who knows people in the Cruz campaign. I never repeated it because I figure if it is true it will come out and I did not have any proof beyond hearsay.
In the interview linked from the article, Stone claims the Cruz allegations are the product of detective work commissioned by Rubio. It was to serve as insurance in case Cruz leveled accusations against Rubio. Rubio ultimately declined to use it. But the private dicks then shopped it to the NE and thus got paid twice. Stone does not mention his sources.
Stone contends Cruz won't sue the NE, because the story is mostly accurate, and he would have to lie in discovery.
Stone denies Trump had anything to do with it. The allegations against Heidi are totally separate (unless it was Ted's infidelity that caused her apparent depression episode).
