He has changed his views on 2A and amnesty. Probably on Muslims too but it’s kind of hard to announce that.

Trump/Christie=RINO Republicanism, from, just the northeast! A much better RINO VP pick for Trump would be Condi Rice! Trump/Rice would force the left to spend much more money than they would want to, out of California. A better conservative pick for VP by Trump would be, either, Governor Suzanne Martinez of New Mexico, or Sarah Palin, if she’s willing to become VP, again.

Heck, I’m a little nervous about ANY Veep choice, given what we originally thought about Ryan and what he became.

We will see.
Prayers for Mr. Trump making a great choice.

I dearly hope Kasich is not the choice for vice president . He is extremely liberal . Ohio is not doing as great as he says it is.

By far the most important thing about the VP pick is his/her ability to help get the ticket to 270 EV.

Any other consideration is a distant second in importance. The President can shape his circle of advisors, cabinet heads, etc any way he wants once elected. But he has to get elected.

Adding to the ticket’s chances at 270 EV requires that the VP nominee have significant key state, regional, or key voting block appeal. And oh yeah, he/she has to be a credible back up POTUS.

Key state appeal is hard to game but it could be vital.

JFK running with LBJ to secure TX

And hypotheticals:

If Al Gore ran with a popular Florida democrat in 2000 he would have won.
Ditto for Kerry and a popular Ohio democrat in 2004.

OTOH Mitt Romney would have needed about three such VP nominees in 2012.

No it won’t. She would bring nothing to the ticket. Boosting the win margin in Alaska or Oklahoma does not get you to 270 EV. And she would not dig Trump out of his broader problem with women voters, because for better or worse, she has been defined by SNL and the broader liberal media (and by some of her own choices) as an unserious person. No independent or democrat would think “I’m not totally sure about Trump, he has no governing experience, but at least he has Sarah Palin with him”. They might however say that about Christie.

Of course, if you like you like the stealth establishment type, you could go with Cruz. I can see the bumper sticker now:

Cruz, he doesn't do the establishment's bidding, his surrogates do it for him!!

This is what I've been saying shortly after Christie endorsed Trump. Donald Trump values loyalty just about more than anything else. He remembers, rewards and trusts those that have been loyal to him. He may very well work with others that have opposed him, even those that have bitterly opposed him, but he would never reward them or place such trust in them to be a member of his inner circle.

That means Rubio, Kasich and Cruz don't have a chance. They don't share Trump's vision, either, for the country so there is no "connection" with Trump.

Trump does not think like the typical politician. He's not going to sit down with advisors and ask "Who will help me win? Who do I need to pick? Who will bring me delegates?" He just doesn't think in those terms. He will ask himself "Who do I LIKE? Who would be a good partner? Who can I trust? WHO HAS BEEN LOYAL?"

Right now, I think Christie is at the top of the list.

Whether he would be a good pick or not, I am not sure. My fear is that Christie could be "turned" by the GOP-e. Christie could be the establishment's last gasp at stopping Trump if Trump wins the nomination and looks like he is on his way to beating the dem nominee in the fall. They will continue to throw everything they can at Trump but not much seems to stick; however, imagine if a Presidential candidate's running mate QUIT shortly before the election, saying that due to (something the Presidential candidate did or said) that he could no longer support the man at the top of the ticket. Of course, it could be a totally fabricated excuse to try to throw the election and ingratiate himself to (or be rewarded by) the establishment.
