Meathead Rob Reiner Calls for Filming Boycott in North Carolina Over 'Anti-LGBT' Law

Famed director Rob Reiner said he won't produce movies in North Carolina until it repeals a new law banning cities from enacting their own anti-discrimination protections — legislation widely seen as rolling back LGBT rights.

Reiner, whose long list of movies includes "When Harry Met Sally," "A Few Good Men" and "Stand By Me," joins a growing chorus of entertainment heavyweights who say they bwon't do business in the state while the law is in effect.

"Until this hateful law is repealed and LGBT North Carolinans are treated with the equal dignity they deserve, I will not film another production in North Carolina, and I encourage my colleagues in the entertainment industry to vow to do the same," Reiner said in a statement Friday.

The Republican-led Legislature passed the bill after Charlotte approved anti-discrimination measures that would have allowed transgender people to use bathrooms corresponding to their gender identity. Gov. Pat McCrory signed the bill into law Wednesday.

A Motion Picture Association of America official on Thursday also said that studios oppose "any law that legitimizes discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression."

An incentive program, which has since been scaled back, has made North Carolina a major film and television production hub.

Ignore them.....Nothing hurts them more.

On the contrary, I fully expect North Carolina will buckle and overturn this law. Once the boycott ball starts rolling, the losses they'll face from the entertainment and sports industries will be significant.

“Maybe NC should ban any productions from Rob Reiner being shown or broadcast there.”

But see, we are not fascists here in NC. :-)
(contrary to liberal belief.)

When the lawfare starts and the Federals get the case, then it will be overturned. The General Assembly won’t budge, and the NC courts won’t overturn it, either.

I wonder if the Meathead will be visiting Cuba. You know how much they love gays in Cuba.

Reiner’s a real work of art alright.

Some of the places in that movie are places I used to hang out in as a kid 35 to 40 years ago.

Used to go to that drive-in with my wife and kids.

Used to enjoy Rockford and Games Garner.

That's the left's response to every commonsense law or court ruling.

But when it comes to Obamacare, abortion or gay "marriage", "It's the law! Accept it!"

Close to 400 businesses have praised NC for this action.

Don’t expect the fudge-packing media to report that.

There is nothing to overturn. Charlotte cannot make law.

I won’t be watching their hateful movies, which bash traditional values and healthy Sexuality. That’s the last thing I want my kin need to be exploded to.

How many movies HAVE you already produced in North Carolina, Meathead?

And on that note, what have you done lately that is worth watching?

I wish I shared your optimistic appraisal of the situation. But after having been effectively disenfranchised after we passed a marriage amendment, I am thoroughly convinced that the Federals will find a way to do so again.

Fed will not touch this. No law.

It mirrors fed law.
