It's snow wonder why people are leaving Chicago faster than any U.S. city

When "polar vortex," "below zero" and "rapid weather change" have become integrated into the vocabulary of every Chicagoan, it's snow wonder why:

In 2015, the Chicago region saw its first population decline in more than two decades, according to U.S. Census Bureau data released Thursday. The Windy City's drop-off also was higher than any metropolitan area in the U.S.

People are giving Chicago and Illinois the cold shoulder and migrating to states such as Florida, Arizona and Nevada, where they can enjoy warmer and much less moody climates. Can you blame them?

Imagine lying poolside in the sunshine and not feeling a need to pack an umbrella, snow boots and tank top every time you leave the house. *Sigh* Although we should consider ourselves lucky this year—Mother Nature didn’t carry out her typical winter vendetta.

Despite this winter’s warmer-than-usual weather, the Chicago region lost an estimated 6,263 residents in 2015, according to census data.

And new residents and births couldn’t offset the number of residents who have left the Chicago area since 2010—about 80,000 in all. Clearly, not enough people are gettin' it on, amiright? And Cook County’s population dropped 2.4 percent from 2014, leaving the county with a population of about 5.2 million.

Two other contributing factors in Chicago’s population dip are a diminished Mexican immigrant population and a "dramatic decline" in the city’s African-American population, according to data gathered by Rob Paral and Associates, a firm owned by Chicago-based demographer Rob Paral.

Fortunately, young, college-educated people (who don't know any better when it comes to the city's weather) are flocking to Chicago. Unfortunately, it's nowhere near the number of people leaving the state.

Rumor has it that some even get to leave while they are still alive.

Either way they can still vote there.

Yeah, and they take their screwy lib ideas with them.
The correct term should be metastasizing.

...and a "dramatic decline" in the city’s African-American population

Well, ya know, the self-induced genocide among the city’s African-American population has a tendency to cause stuff like that to happen. Chicago had 2,987 shooting deaths in 2015 and 678 so far this year, the majority being young black males.

Besides the death count, blacks who want their kids to reach adulthood are no doubt seeing the writing on the wall and moving out.

I'd be more concerned, but as a white person, I've been told that doesn't matter. Unless they're shot by a cop.

Obama has stated that ISIL is not an existential threat.

By comparing the deaths caused by ISIL and the deaths caused by Chicago blacks, he is correct. Hoe can ISIL be a threat to America if Chicago is not?

Yeah, it’s the weather alright. It is raining bullets & taxes.

But, before you Chicagoans pack your thongs & Speedos, consider this: It is HOT in Florida. Sweat all day hot. It rains a lot, making it steamy hot. It hot even by the pool. A/C is the only relief for 7 months of the year, though you will probably use it all year, so I hope you enjoy hibernating inside. It gives you plenty of time to pay that enormous power bill.

As for your car, plan on the need for a garage. Without it, your car will be an oven all day & into the night. Don’t even consider getting in the car wearing a bathing suit. Ouch, that’s a hot seat. Too, without a roof over your car your paint job cooks away. The salt air doesn’t help, either.

Then there are the bugs, lots of stinging, biting ones, all year long. Of course, the worst months are summer. And let’s not forget the hurricanes that can leave you with nothing but the clothes on your back.

Folks, the beach is a nice place to visit, but for most, a lousy place to live.

As an Anglo I could never live in Florida; our skin is simply not made for that sun. There has to be a happy medium somewhere between NJ and Florida; I suspect several states would qualify.

Is the Varsity theatre still there? I was an usher in the mid-70’s.

No. People are leaving Chicago because Global Warming is causing Chicago to get colder. Not only that, Global Warming is causing it to become windy in Chicago.

These bloody people are exhausting. I would like to think we are dealing with idiots, but I have long suspected it is much more sinister than that.

Perhaps this person who wrote it is simply a useful idiot, but the people driving this anthropogenic global warming narrative know damn well it is a farce, but are using it as a tool.

In 2015, the Chicago region saw its first population decline in more than two decades

That's because of so many people getting killed!

That’s why they changed it to the ubiquitous “Global Climate Change”.

Judging by the number of folks wearing Blackhawks jerseys here when they play the Stars, a lot of them have moved to Dallas.

Damn even the wetbacks don't want to go there and the blacks are killing themselves faster then they can reproduce.

Now that is amazing data

News FLASH: They're not leaving Illinois because of the weather.

Not to burst your bubble, taxes are probably a greater reason for more people (my uncle to the SW corner of MI which is becoming an IL exile enclave) but yes some people do leave because of the weather, plenty of them have been leaving every Northern state for decades for just that reason. My brother is considering it, weather a major reason among others.

Mild winter this one, God bless El Nino. Last year was terrible. Not looking forward to next winter. Gas bill. Drafty windows. The snow, the damned snow. Autumn is lovely, one day it's cold and you need heat, the next day it's hot and you wish you didn't take the AC out of the window already. Yes the weather is up there with taxes and crime and any other reason, right up there.

Exactly. Gang warfare, murders, drugs, liberal politics, etc have nothing to do with it. But I’ll be damned if I’ll shovel another sidewalk.

Washington DC, Chicago, IL are both the same in that whatever they touch dies and withers away.

Corrupt cities full of corrupt people.

Indianapolis seemed like the perfect place once upon a time.
Not too big, not too small.
Sorry to hear it is suffering from an infestation of soul sucking leeches.

Well, don’t even think of moving to South Carolina, we have summers as hot as Florida and winters that can switch back and forth from icy cold to warm and humid with ice storms, sleet, snow and even Sharknados, well I made that one up but really it’s awful, then there are the Alligators, Diamondbacks, Cottonmouths, Copperheads, Coyotes, wild hogs (both four legged and two legged), black widow spiders, wasps, mosquitoes, gnats, Lindsey Graham, I tell you it’s unbearable. Don’t ask why I live here, I was born and raised here and don’t have sense enough to leave.
