Rush: Establishment Support of Cruz Means Conservatism is Winning
Conservative Review ^ | March 24, 2016

Posted on 03/24/2016 1:05:55 PM PDT by GodGunsGuts

On Wednesday during his radio program Rush Limbaugh responded to a caller claiming Ted Cruz is not an outsider and is “buddying up” with the establishment.

Limbaugh clarified to the caller that Cruz is not the hypocrite – the establishment is.

Listen to the full clip here:

Below are some excerpts from the transcript:

RUSH: I just saw there's a caller on line calling me delusional?

CALLER:  I think, sadly, what you all fail to realize is that perpetually you're painting Ted Cruz as an outsider.  He paints Ted Cruz as an outsider.  The Tea Party tried to paint him as an outsider.  Yet I'm gonna read you five names:  Lindsey Graham, Mitt Romney, Jeb exclamation, exclamation, exclamation point, Bush, Nikki Haley.  How much more insider can you get than this, okay?

RUSH: . . .This is the same stuff that happened with Reagan.  I have to tell you, Clay, it's exact same stuff that happened with Reagan.  They didn't like Reagan in '76. They didn't like Reagan in 1980.  They tried to stop Reagan in both campaigns.

When Reagan won in 1980 they had no choice, and then when Reagan proved to be two landslides popular, all of those people that supposedly hated him couldn't wait to be standing next to him every time a photo was taken.  They were the hypocrites, not Reagan.  And Cruz is not the hypocrite here.  What's he supposed to do, stand up and say, "Sorry, Governor Bush, but I don't believe you.  I don't believe you really want me to win.  So I would appreciate it if you would endorse someone --" is that what you want him to do Clay?

Precisely! And, there is significant difference between the Centrist Authoritarianism of Trumpism and Mr. Trump, and Constitutional Conservatism which we for all intents and purposes have held sacred here on FR is most closely typified Mr. Cruz’ doctrine and platform.

In an odd way, I think Cruz has risen to great heights instead of just being some faceless cog in the GOPe machine solely based on the difficulties he has had in getting along with other people. If the Bushies had not rejected him, he wouldn’t be a story I don’t think. But they did, and since everyone despises them I think it all became a bit of the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Interesting analysis.

No true Conservative would destroy American Sovereignty and its Constitution with support for:

NAFTA

CFR

TAP

TPP

North American Union

Union of the Americas

One World Government

With some side-stepping and lawyer talk, Cruz’s wife according to convincing evidence supports a NAU and worked on the issue for the CFR.

Cruz has made all the first moves toward a NAU and with lots of side stepping has supported huge increases in immigration and the expansion of Pacific region trade deals.

Please research it yourself. Read Jeff Sessions the expert on trade and security on the above and ask yourself why Sessions supports Trump and not Cruz.

Do not accept that Cruz is a conservatve from anyone other than yourself with your own research.

Was Rush trying to say Reagan was an outsider? Reagan was a 2 term governor of CA. He was in insider and a conservative. They are not mutually exclusive.

I can’t imagine what is up with Rush. It’s bizarre.

Is it really so hard to understand? Once you start admitting that things aren't going the way you want them to in politics, you lose, and the potential opens up for a major collapse. Of course Rush is going to do what he can to keep morale up.

If conservatism were really winning a conservative would have tied up the nomination by now, and conservatives certainly wouldn't be attacking the likely nominee.

Someone spoke to him, is my take. He seemed OK for Trump before, then took an extreme pro-Cruz turn recently. It is so blatant. I know Cruz is the only “conservative” running now, it is just odd the drastic change.

Well here the thing... tactically

Trump is fighting exactly like Rush has call for for years...Trump whole campaign Style is about as close as you ever get to a Rush running for office campaign... even Trump stream of consciousness speaking style is the same as a Rush to excellent tours... Rush has said as much

philosophically Rush back Cruze because he sees Cruz as a closer “doctrinaire” conservative

but tactically and style wise Trump is pure Rush... it’s almost spooky how much they’re like..and Rush know it

It still surprises me, since I would have thought that he would have continued with his policy of not supporting any republican over another.

Hell, they’ll probably find a way to deport him back to Canada.

I agree. Rush and Trump do seem so much more alike. I’ll leave it there since I’m a Trump supporter.

Well IF trump were a conservative you might have a point, but trump isn’t a conservative.

I’ll listen to Rush, his comments and commentary. He has shown himself to be a man of Conservative principles. However, he, himself, would admit to the fact he has been bamboozled at times. (Sandra Fluke?) And the fact that at one point he considered the Rube to be another Reagan seemed much more than ‘a little out there’. He sees something in Cruz and forms his opinions what what is seen. Like all of us, if he were searching under the cover and found Sen Cruz to be lacking, and not a True Conservative (however that might be defined) would he admit to the fact?

Rush has an audience, he presents the facts as he knows them and thus forms a decision which he shares.

None of us are perfect, but we are all looking for perfection. To accept one mans decision as the absolute truth is nothing more than foolish.

Is Sen Cruz an insider/outsider. Search for the facts and then make your own decision.

When it comes down to the future of America, in stone should be left unturned. JMHO

Big difference between “conservative” and “opportunist”.

I see no evidence that Cruz is a “conservative”.

I’m curious. What is your definition of “conservative”.

That’s a lot of words. But, I guess yes or no wouldn’t work for you.

Donald Trump has a reform agenda, is not controlled by anyone and has the broad appeal necessary to win the general election. He’s conservative enough.

Is there a specific reform, or set of reforms, that are a satisfactory compromise to “fully conservative”?
